If the adoption is done ethically and in 100% completely best interests of the child, I am 100% for it.

In a perfect world, we wouldn't need adoption...but the world is not perfect, so adoption does need to be there.

I am a parent.

I am also an adopted person.

I would never adopt. Foster, yes. But adopt and seal away another human being's origins and history forever? Nope, not gonna do it.

Until this "free world" can figure out that adopted people should have the same rights and dignities as everybody else, and not be discriminated against and demeaned, I will not support adoption. Until children are seen as human beings and not commodities to be passed around like toasters, I will not support adoption. Until society values the family unit over the destruction of families in favor of making infertiles' dreams coming true, I will not support adoption. Until we respect the rights of children to retain their own cultures and heritages and not have to sacrifice their entire beings just to make somebody's dream of parenthood come true, I will not support adoption. Until we as the richest nation in the WORLD do more to help improve the conditions that CREATE "orphans" in third world countries, I will not support the strip-mining of those children as a band-aid effort to "help" children whose situation we could improve without having to force them to lose everything they were born to.

In short, no, I do not support adoption.

I find your question to be a bit unfair. I am against adoption the way it is run today. If your son was truly a child soldier then he is one of the few who was truly in need of a home. I am not against children in need getting good homes, in fact that is exactly what I am for. ALL children in need getting good homes.

I am against children being ripped away from good parents and sold. I am against scared hormonal young mothers being brow beaten by agencies into believing they won't be as good a parent as someone else just because they are young, scared, and not established financially yet. With the exception of Bill Gates and a few others who is financially established at age 16-19?

There will always be a need for adoption. That need has been transformed into big business, supply and demand, bonus incentives. That I am against.

I would never be against children truly in need having a chance to thrive in a home with loving people.

Im for taking care of children. Some people are great at it. Some people are just capable of it. Some arent at all. But children should not just be an experiment.

I haven't adopted.. I just had my first though and it made my feelings even stronger about adoption. I'm all for it of course.. I don't see how someone could not be. Everyone deserves to have parents who love them or someone to care for them when they're a child.. It doesn't matter to me who their birth parents are.. I would love them like my own.

I'm DEFINATELY FOR adoption.
I mean, these are children we're talking about. Children that were either abused or just had a hard life. I mean, why would anyone be AGAINST adoption? What have these kids done to those people who are AGAINST adoption. I mean seriously. Thats just rude. I have an adopted sister and she was treated TERRIBLY. Her father burned her before, and her mother brutally abused her. We adopted her because i mean it was just so sad seeing her sitting in the adoption home all by herself. She was so skinny, and helpless! It was sad! We adopted her, and have had for 3 years now. She's 8 years old now, and she's gained weight, and has just a much better life now! I mean, these are kids that honestly have hards lives. They need to see that there is always a second chance for them. So, honestly i am FOR ADOPTION. and anyone who isnt is crazy, basically. Although, everyone has their own choices, and opinions. But seriously, i dont think ANYONE SHOULD BE AGAINST ADOPTION !

Who is against adoption?

saiboogu
I fully support adoption. I don't believe we would ever adopt (mostly because we've already got one child and have no reason to believe we can't have another), but I can't think of a single reason why others shouldn't have the right and ability to adopt children in need.

It baffles my mind that there are "antiadoption" people. Never even considered that until I read your question.

Large Taco
For it of course. I can't imagine why anyone would be against it.

Mr. Peanut B
im not a parent but i do know that setting a child up for adoption is dumb if you could possibly take care of it,

adopting children should not be a primary way of aquiring children but it is a good way. if u can adopt you should because children do much better when they have a normal family.
