I think there are very few people in the USA that know South African adoption procedures.

you don't have a solid enough profession for any adoption agency in the US to grant you a child. You need to have a good job and if you don't have a partner you need to show proof of a support network. You will need to have confirmed help from parents, other family, friends and possiblt co workers. it takes a lot to adopt. good luck to you. I don't know what the standards for adoption in south africa are, but I bet they are similar to ours

i think you are now allowed to adopt if you are single, but you would really need to check with your local authority they will know the 'rules' for where you live.

and fair play to you for considering adopting one of the unwanted children in the world

Contact a credible & I do mean credible adoption agency & get the info you need. You may need legal advice as well, to protect your rights, once you adopt a child.

Yes - prepare for the grilling of your life. Every aspect of your life will be minutely examined (in the UK anyway) before you can be deemed as fit to adopt. Then you wait and wait and wait, for a suitable child to be available. It's a very grue ling process.

I think the laws vary from country to country,the laws in the USA might be different from the laws in the UK,i think it depends on the country you want to adopt from and how good the lawyer you get is,good luck

You can be single to adopt but it takes a lot longer and may be a struggle. You should be able to though. You will have to fill in lots of forms as well.

i would think and hope you could adopt being single as there is alot of single parents around all the child needs is alot of love and attention and of cause a single parent can do that so i dont see why not there must be an adoption agency you could ring and ask

It isn't easy and it isn't a short process. It can take years. Also you can adopt, if you are single but it is harder. They also have certain health and age limits too.
Also you have to have a good, stead income. In some countries, they don't have a very organized legal system and adoption can be tricky. Look at what happened to Madonna.
Ask lots of questions and do your homework first!
