For those whom have adopted children,?

My aparents were both 28 when they adopted me and 30 when they adopted my brother. I don't really think age is a huge issue BUT if I had to choose an age group I think the parent's age should somewhat reflect the child's age. For example a 50 year old is not likely to have children naturally so I feel they would do better to adopt an older child, in the same light a 20 year old could not have given birth to a 15 year old so I'm not sure that they would make suitable parents for one.

Kind of like how I feel about birth order, adopting children out of birth order can create unnecessary issues and I feel that adopting a child who could not possibly be yours biologically due to age is another scenario that could create problems.

My parents adopted from Peru & I believe that the parents cannot be more then 48 years older then the child when the adoption is final.

I was 21 and my husband was 28 when we first adopted. We adopted a sibling group ages 5,6 and 7. We just adopted a newborn and are now 25 and 32.

I was 32 and my husband was 30 when we brought our son home. It took a year for the adoption to be finalized, so we were actually 33 and 31 at that point.

I was 58 and my wife 54 when we adopted a 13 year old girl from a Colombian orphanage. Age was never an issue.

I have friends, age 64, who adopted a 15 year old girl from the same orphanage.

All parents who adopt from Colombia have to present a physician's certificate/opinion that they are in good enough health to raise the child to majority.

For our first adoption, I was 37 and my husband was 39. For our second adoption, I was 43 and my husband was 45.

I really don't think that age is the issue. Some people are more able to parent than others, due to age, lifestyle, stress, economic considerations, etc. I think those are the more important factors.

if you have a loving home and you and your partner are suitable to bring up a child then i think age isn't eaverything.
