Foster care home study?

We are having our home study tomorrow morning...any helpful hints or great tips? We're very excited to finally get this far in the process!

♥♥Mum To Superkids♥♥
My biggest tip is to be honest and be yourself, and if you don't understand something or want more info, speak up and ask. Don't be afraid to admit that you don't know everything and that you may need help with some scenarios that could occur.
Have your house clean and tidy (more for your own peace of mind than anything) but don't stress out about making it look like a showhome. Have everything clear in your mind; why you are interested in fostering, what you think you can offer and what you expect to feel about the process. Be organised with any paper work you need to present, police checks, etc, and just relax and make the most of the process.

Believe me, this is actually the easiest part of fostering. Good luck!

Be honest about anything they ask - don't have your home "overly" clean - it needs to look like you live there. Just be yourself!

Good luck!

Yep. Just be yourself and answer the questions as honestly as possible. It will take a bit of time to get it completely done but things will be fine.

Best of luck.

Congrats!! Its not as hard as I thought it would be! We have a great social worker and she was great! You will do just fine. Just be honest and be yourself! Good luck!

I'm with everyone else. Just be your wonderful self. Be honest (I'm sure I don't need to tell you that), and relax. Maybe do some deep breathing beforehand. Did you know that three deep breaths will actually change your brain waves? Oh, and have some water handy. You'll probably be doing a lot of talking. If you've got this far in the process, they're not going to turn you down unless you've got a chain saw in your living room (that's what our social worker said, lol).

Is home study having the case worker come and asses you and your family and home?? to become foster carers? im from australia and are going through the process at the moment we have had two sessions and are going to have a few more and its all good, it makes you think about all the possibility's good and bad, and goes through all your things!! childhood memories, good and bad, and the way you parent etc. we are finding it really interesting and helpful. if you want to contact me and we can discuss the process and your thought. :) kat
