How was your experience finding your bio mom? I think i found part of my family and am going to contact them this summer with the help of a dear friend living there in Russia. I just hope everything goes well with this inquiry this summer. I can'help but wonder how my mom is doing.

I found my first mother - she ended up marrying my father 6 months after my birth - and went on to have 3 more kids.
Reunion has had a multitude of ups and downs.
She's not coping well with my reappearance - as she was told to forget she ever had me - and never grieved the loss.
My father and I are in contact though - and that - so far - has been great.
It can get messy - but finding out your truth - your story - can be great.

I was taken from my first mom @ 18 months, adopted by my foster parents @ 3 years old. My first mom visited me until the adoption.
So...when I imagined meeting her, I thought I'd feel an instant "connection". That our first meeting would spark a distant memory. Surely her face would be familiar.
When we met, she was overjoyed. I was her long lost baby girl! To me, she was a stranger. I had no memory of her. I felt sad & a bit disappointed. Yet at the same time I was THRILLED to meet her.
Our relationship grew as we got to know each other. Finding my own story, my history, my heritage - the good & the not so good - has been the best thing I've ever done for myself.
The best advice I can give is to go with an open heart.

My experience was similar to Robin's, but as we got to know each other, I have found huge similarities in our lives, more than could just be coincidence. My mom understands me better than anyone else in my life, including the parents who raised me.
You have done the near impossible.... found family, in Russia. I hope you have a good experience, and that your mom is longing for contact from you. |

A child has the right to know their family. Go with an open mind and heart and despite what you find know that you are a part of that family.It would help if you understand the time and era of your adoption. Women their have had it very rough frome what I understand. The best of luck to you. |
