Girls/Woman who relinquish their children for adoption?

Is it possible their is a link between the girls who place their children for adoption and the relationship they had/have with their own father's.
Is a father's approval of his future grandchild a determining factor in whether or not a woman relinquishes?

In my case, no.

My grandfather didn't know. In fact, when I found my mother, everyone had known about me except him. He thought I was a surprise to everyone (still does), but really he was the only one in the dark. He told his wife (my grandmother) that he felt they were 'robbed' of me.

My grandmother was the force behind my relinquishment. I believe this is true of most adoptees of the BSE. The shame of it all was just TOO much!

What would the neighbors think?!

Simple answer, no my father had nothing to do with my losing my daughter. Neither did my mother or stepfather or my siblings. It had everything to do with an unethical agency that used coercive techniques to get me to sign the papers. They threatened me with Social Services keeping my child until the bills were paid for, sueing my parents and other assorted varities of nastiness in order to get me to surrender. Including pulling the "those poor people" are already waiting for the child.

I have a relative who relinquished based partly on her father's disapproval. She seemed to have had a decent relationship with him but the "approval rating" fell through the floor when she became pregnant.

There may be some validity to that.....perhaps in my scenario anyway.

I dont think so. My father wasnt in my life and I didnt give up my son. It depends on that persons feelings and values not so much wheter their father was in their life. There are many other factors that go into giving your child up for adoption. If anything not having a father around all the time has made me a better mother for my son because I know he needs me. It also helped me not to have a child by just anyone because I want him to be in his son's life which he is ...good luck

I wouldn't think so. I think there are many many reasons why a person would give up their child for adoption and few would have to do with their own relationship with their father.

my biological mothers father was not in her life, they didn't really have a relationship. so i don't think it has anything to do with her surrendering
