HELP PLeASE........!!!??

I know this is probably not the best place to post this but I am posting it in all the familiar categories so please help if you can. :)
What can I do to get my husband to get a DNA test done to find out if a child that her grandmother has been claiming for 10 years that he is her dad?
He has a feeling that she is his daughter because she looks and acts a lot like him even though she has never lived with him or even spent more than an hour with him. She was told that somebody else was her dad for 8 years then when she turned nine they started hinting to her little by little that my husband was her dad so now she doesn't even want to know him, her rejection hurt us but more him because she could be flesh of his flesh and blood of his blood. Now because of that her Grandma(her legal guardian) doesn't want my husband to go near her because she said that she would take extreme measures with the law and she said she would milk him for back pay and well we are not rich and 10 years of back pay is a lot of money. That is the only reason my husband wont do the DNA test because he is afraid that if she is going to take all of our money and not give him visiting rights to see his daughter... Can anyone give us some advice on what to do? It would help if you are a child custody lawyer with experience because then at least you would understand the situation and give us some good advice. But if there are no lawyers please give it your best shot. Thanks in advance! God bless!

Oh no my husband is very worthy of being a good father. He doesn't do any drugs or drink liquor for that matter. He is also very good with kids so that is not an issue. We are afraid also that that woman will say lies to make him look bad.

You can compel a DNA test and fight for the rights. If the child is his, then you can bet, child support will be ask for. But you could have the back child support set up in like a trust fund that she could use for college. Contact a lawyer and also contact a family counselor to help the child work through some issues that she is having.

Get a court ordered paternity test, then if it is his daughter, file for custody or visitation.
Where is the child's mother? She may know. The courts will not make him pay pack child support- he didnt even know about her. If anything, he could sue them for lying and keeping her from him.

You need to call your local department of family/child services to get the ball rolling.

This is a catch 22 ... If he does take a d.n.a. test , And it proves that he is the father of the child, Then yes, he will have alot of back payments to make for child support , All the way back from the day the child was born. There's no getting around that! The upside of this is if he is the father then nobody can prevent him from seeing his child... Good Luck..

You could get some of his hair, or DNA place. Or take his hair brush, or tooth brush. If ur gonna get hair, it think it has to have the follicle still on he end.

im not sure if the grandma can milk him for pay back, if he just found out the girl is his i dont think there isnt much she can do. its not like he knew and denied it.

also if he is the father, he legally has to be given right to see her, unless the grandma can prove he isnt a worthy father - like drug use or whatever.

good luck.

I am an attorney who specializes in intellectual property law.. so I can't really help you here other than a few basics. Have a look at the topics on this website, which might give you a clearer picture of what to expect as well as a brief explanation of legal procedures and terms. Best of luck. http://family-law.freeadvice.com/child_support/
