Has anybody with epilepsy gone through with an adoption?

My husband has intractable epilepsy, he actively seizes on a daily basis but has not had a grand-mal in several years, his are simple and complex partial seizures (basically the "staring spells"). He is currently under the care of a Physician who supports our petition for adoption on the condition that we have alternate daycare as my husband can not be left alone with the child. This is understandable due to the condition. I have searched high and low for anyone who has epilepsy and has adopted, but individuals who have are few and far between. We have begun speaking to adoption agencies and they seem quite scared and hesitant to proceed with us as prospective adoptive parents. Has anyone else faced this situation? Were you able to get through the whole process? If so, how did you do it? If you have any suggestions for us, please help.

I don't really have an answer for you, but that is horrible they are so hesitent! I also have complex-partial seizures from epilepsy, and am scared to have my own children and have thought of adoption myself. I have never looked into it though. Is it possible to see some sort of case worker about this? Someone that would understand epilepsy?
