Has anyone adopted (a baby) from Mexico?

I personally have not adopted from Mexico, but you have to be sure to research the agency thoroughly. Some babies have actually been stolen from their mothers in order to supply foreigners with infants.

I can't really tell you much about the process other than you will have a home study as in any other adoption. My Aunt's friends who adopted from Mexico were still Mexican citizens, so the process may actually be a little easier for you than for most other folks if your husband has not yet been naturalized. The paperwork to get the child into the US is still just as complicated, however. Good luck!

Knowing mexicans and the way mexican families are, I think it'd be difficult to find a baby in need of a home in Mexico. Mexican families are some of the most close knit religious people i've ever met, I would imagine if one of their family could not care for a baby, another family member would step in and help out instead of putting it up for adoption. Family is important to them.

I would also be wary in adopting from Mexico in that I would think there would be a lot of illicit practices going on to get a child US citizenship. Just be cautious.

I doubt it. If you really knew the culture you would be aware that Mexican families stick together no matter what. Being poor is not a reason to lose a family member, family is everything.

Some of the poorest (monetarily) people of the world are the richest in family and happiness. More priviledges does not automatically equal a 'better life' IMHO

I would prefer to be poor and with my real family than privileged and without them. But that's just me, other people have more shallow morals.

I think its possible but really hard. If you go to adoption.com they tell you the statistics and process for adoptiong from all the differnt countries. What is difficult about mexico is I believe you have to reside in the country for at least 6 months to care for the child before it can be approved. So its not impossible, but would require a huge commitment. There are however, mexican children in foster care here in the US. Adoptiong through fostercare is one of the cheapest ways to adopt.

Other popular latin american countrys are Guatamala ( which is currently closed) and Columbia which requires anywhre from 6-8 weeks in country. Good luck!
