Has anyone heard of this case?

I wonder why this 48year old intelligent, degreed woman with wealth did not just hire someone to help her with the twins? Why didn't she take her friends offer to care for the twins until she could get healthy? (She said she didn't want to be separated from them.) Why did she agree to drive to Jacksonville with her boyfriend to meet with these people who she did not know to talk about adoption with them AND their lawyer? Why did SHE call her boyfriend back a few weeks later and ask him to take her back to Jacksonville to relinquish the twins.
I know she was ill, I know she was semi-coersed, I know she was in no condition to make this important decision. She changed her mind and that is her right. The children should have been returned to her. BUT she is not completely innocent in this fiasco. She sought out the Needhams and went to THEM.
That being said, I believe that she had the right to change her mind and get the children back since she immediately (within hours) started preceedings to do so. I'm just saying that she has some fault in this matter, too.

Yes, this poor woman. If I remember correctly, she was suffering from a medical condition and Post partum Depression and was taken advantage of.

Yes this is a real sad case. She still doesn't have her children and they are around 2 years old now. She went to jail for a while because she had visitation and wouldn't take them back. I had to show this to my son because he didn't want to return his son to kidnappers but it's the law for now. Still she should have had her children back. It was her boyfriend that talked her into putting the children up for adoption

Yes. And if I was one of those twins I would be REAL mad when I got older only to learn that my Mom had fought so hard for me and lost me to people who didn't know how to do the right thing.

Yes, I saw it on Dr Phill! Its an awful case and I feel for the mother and her twins.

As for the comment above me saying "semi-coerced" etc... I hope you are never put in a position where you are so mentally exhausted you could sign your own death warrant and have no idea what you are doing.

You should be ashamed of yourself... the lack of compassion you have for another human being and mother is mind boggling... sick!

This story is far more complex than what is presented on this website. Was she in a sound physical and mental state when she signed the relinquishment papers? Probably not.

Did she kidnap the twins and take them to Canada during a court appointed visitation? Yes she did and now she has an arrest record and five years probation for international kidnapping.

Has she spent her life savings trying to get the twins back? Yes, she has.

Who's right and who's wrong? I don't know.

Yes. I have never heard of a more clear case of coercion. She was in NO shape be be allowed to sign for a library card, let alone the future of her twins. It's just disgusting what has happened to them.
