How did you feel about it at the time of adoption, and how did you feel about it as time went on?
( I'm currently 4 months pregnant. The father has left. Recently laid off from a government job. Starting school in a month. Really trying to weigh my options. It's true we don't get more than we can handle, but I admit that I have great fear in doing a good job raising my baby boy. )

I lost my son to adoption in 1968. I didn't get over it. My son didn't get over it either.
Adoption comes with its own special kind of pain.
Even reunion doesn't 'fix" it.
Adoptive parents are not perfect either, and they have their own special problems, as well as the same problems that everyone else has. |

I was depressed for 30 years, I felt like crap, it was a hurt that never healed. In 2001 I search and found her.
If someone would have told me back then, how I'd feel now, I would have kissed there feet with my Thanks. Everyone said it was 'for the best' and that 'I'd get over it', well that never happened. |

The problems that you listed are temporary. Jobs and money come and go. School is temporary. You can only ensure that this child is going to have a good life by giving your baby boy that good life yourself. Adoption doesn't guarantee a good life, only a different one. There are many programs in place to help you get on your feet and on the road to being a wonderful parent. Adoption is forever. Once you sign the papers, it is over. You can raise your child if you want to. I've been there, and it is always possible. |

I always knew it was wrong. I didn't make the choice, someone else made it for me. As time has passed I have gone through many highs and lows but never a normal happiness. I haven't felt true happiness in over 12 years and since I can never get those 12 years back I doubt I will ever feel complete or truly happy again.
To sum it up losing my son ruined me then, now and forever. |

I 'didn't give up' my son for adoption, I never agreed to it and it only went through because I was lied to.
My son was born in 1981 and I have never got over it and have just learnt to deal with the grief, pain and depression. Reunion has made it worse as I have seen the damage adoption has done to my son which I can't repair. |

It depends on weather you can take care of a baby or not, its for the best of him or her. And i would never give my baby. i really hope this helps you. |

Sorry to hear that. I think it would be a really hard choice to give up a baby for adoption. You have to follow your heart, and keep in mind whats best for your baby. Praying and talking to the Lord really does help. And keep in mind whatever you decide it always seems to work out.
