It has cost us $3500 to do a private adoption. That was the attorney fees, court fees, and the home study fees. We didn't have to go through the trouble of changing his name (which varies county to county and state-to-state in price), or his social security card because our BM gave him our last name on his birth certificate.
And don't let anyone give you crap about asking how much it costs, not everyone is rich and most of the time you have to pay everything up-front before the process even begins!
I would suggest that you contact a local family law attorney for a consultation, they'll usually do it for free up to maybe $25. They should be able to explain everything to you and give you a rough estimate as to how much the whole process will cost you!
GOOD LUCK! |

Through an agency you're looking at anywhere between 18-50k.
But if you do a private adoption you're looking at attorney and filing fees. That can vary from attorney to attorney. It could be as little as $1,000 or $10,000.
If you go through the foster care system, it's free. |

IDK!!

Our process was about $50,000 , $37,000 of which was NICU bills and about $13,000 for that actual attorney, agency fees for homestudy, court fees, background checks, "*****parents assessments".
More importantly, there are thousands of thing I had yet to learn, I paid the agency thousands of dollars to tell me about my lil' adoptee, when there are tons of ADOPTEES right here who do if for free and guess what , they've been there, stick around.
ETA- Private adoptions can come with unexpected expenses (oh, sometimes $37,000). We weren't allowed to put him on our insurance until he was 3 days old and Mom could give us temp custody. |

Adoption cost my child a mother, a father, and a brother. Because adoption is a permanent severing of a family.....you should think about that 'cost' first and foremost in any plans you make. There was absolutely no way any court would return my child to his natural family, so he was placed through foster care. Our cost was free. We paid gas money to go to the training sessions....that's all.....@ 20 bucks.

we are going through the foster/adopt program and the cost is free. Every state is different but basically, must pass background check, have room in your house for the child(ren), be a loving caring person or family. And have lots and lots of patience and understanding. |

Hopefully, after you buy your baby/child you'll actually want to dedicate your life to taking care of that baby/child. |
