How can I find my birth mum?

All I know is she was an illegal Iraqi immigrate in the UK and that she was 18. She left me on a train when I was 3 weeks old. I want to look for her and ask her why she did it. I remember my social worker saying that my birth mum might have been sent back to Iraq.

She left me a letter in my basket, trying to explain everything.

I'm not sure that you will be able to find her; if your birth was unregistered there will be no record of her name so it would not be possible to advertise anywhere for her.
How do you know that she was an illegal immigrant, aged 18, if you came into Care when only 3 weeks old and how would the SW know this if you were found abandoned on a train?
Reasons for abandoning you?
If she was an unmarried Mum, especially if a Muslim, she would probably be very frightened that her Community would ever suspect that she had you; Islam can be very harsh on fornication. If she is still in the UK, it might be safer for her if you never found her. |
