Around 10 years before I was born my mother was sent away from home to a Catholic church where nuns took care of her so that she could give birth to a girl in the Kansas City Missouri area, and her baby was immediately then given up for adoption. It happened right at birth and was a planned adoption, and it was planned so my mom wouldn't know anything about her, even her name, and likewise for my sister. I know in these times they have improved the technology in finding long lost relatives, but I don't know where to begin trying to locate my sister. Does anybody know a good place to start?

My sisters birth took place around 1970, btw. I am 26 years old and she is around 40 by now.

It really depends on what information, if any, you have. I recently found my husbands father however I had his full name, birth date and last known city of residence. I used this information to find him online through a person "locator" site.
There are plenty of places online, that are legit, to find missing people. The more information you have, the better, especially if the last name is a common one. You can try to contact the county she was adopted out of, but since it was a while ago, you'll have to go through a lot of red tape to get any info. |
