How can i find out if i am adopted?
|
I come from a "family" of Blue eyes... everyone has blue eyes! Even my great-great grand parents on both sides have blue eyes and i ended up with greenish brown eyes? i have blonde hair when everyone else has either black or brown hair. My personality is totally different from all of my family's and as long as i can remember, i've never got along with my parents. i've always completely hated them. i have asked if i was adopted on only a few occasions (once being slammed into a wall and told to shut the "F" up) and i've been told either no or was told to shut up. i have seen my birth certificate and its all in order. it was filed within a week after my birth. I do have a younger sibling and he has brown hair and blue eyes I'm 14. What can i do to find out if I'm adopted? Additional Details Um, yeah... Remember I'm 14...

First: it sounds like your eyes are "hazel" and if the eyes of your parents are truly blue, then someone is not being truthful with you. Two blue-eyed parents cannot give birth to a child with hazel eyes.
Secondly: an adoptive birth certificate can be "back-dated' or made to look as if it was filed shortly after the birth of the child. In other words, the adoptive birth certificate will have the same file date as the original or true birth certificate, which would be the one with the biological parents' names on it.
This is not the practice in all states, but it is the practice in some states.
Third: well, the only sure way is a DNA test...and you could best do that by comparing DNA with your younger sibling. If you and he do not match...there is your answer...you are not siblings...and therefore unlikely to be related to your parents, either. |

Ask other family members and friends of your family. Someone will spill the beans. |

You say the dates of the birth certificate and its filing date are only a week apart. That sounds like you're not adopted. But, what about the places listed on it (usually listed are your place of birth, the mother's usual home address, and where the birth certificate was filed). Do all those places make sense?
The family members that you could consider talking to must be old enough to know your parents at the time of your birth. And, well, you'll probably have more luck if you ask a relative that your parents are not especially close to.
Does your mom talk about her pregnancy? The actual birth? Are there new-born pictures of you and your mom together? Everyone takes those pictures (mom in a hospital bed, you all swaddled and looking freshly born). |

If your birth certificate is in order, your current parent's names are on it, and they refuse to tell you otherwise, you can't.
Every child clashes with their parents. Call CPS? or DYFUS? Being smashed into a wall is uncalled for. |

Well now are you spoiled with gifts and love, cause us adoptive parents do that you know. We are very invested in our children and spend all our time loving them.
Dance lesson? Big birthday parties with clowns and bouncy castles? Big baby book with tons of pictures in it with you that doesn't slack off in volume as you grow up.
These are the litmus tests for adoption. |
