How do I find my birth parents in city of over 10 million people and no address or information?

I am 15 years old. I was adopted when I was 2 from a small orphanage in India. I really need some advice on finding my birth parents. if you have met your birth parents or have adopted kids, please give me some advice
thank you

I am from India and have volunteered with orphanages.

In the orphanages there are basic records on how you came about. Who brought you there or where were you found. Possibly even info about your birth family.
Your adoptive parents may know the details or may know as little as the orphanage knows.

Many orphanages in India have the "palna" or the cradle outside. People are supposed to come in the middle of the night and leave their baby. With this it gives complete anonymity to whoever the birth family is. Unfortunately for you the orphanage may just have this exact same information.

If the child was born out of wedlock. I can sadly tell you the birth family is still highly unlikely to want contact with her illegitmate child. Child out of wedlock is an unforgiveable sin in India unlike the West. If a womans past ever comes out it can lead to her social ruin, ostracization and even honor killing by her family. It will destroy any Indian womans life. Chances are if a child is born to an upper class educated net savvy family she was very illegitmate and so the social norm applies.
If the child belongs to a very poor family who relinquished due to poverty they are highly highly unlikely to be educated ,let alone net savvy.

So i doubt any internet site that is used Internationally for reunion in adoptions will help you.

I would suggest you speak to your adoptive family and ask them what information they have. You can ask them if they could take you back to the orphanage at a later date so you can meet with the Orphanage director.

I wish you all the best and peace & comfort.

ETA- As for birth records as asked by cats. Not all children are born in hospitals in India, especially often the poor are not nor are the mothers that are having a child out of wedlock. They are often assited by a "dai Ma" or the lady experienced in delivering a child. if secrecy is required they are called in.

Goverment of India is unable to keep a track of births that did not take place in a goverment or a decent private hospital.

what have your adoptive parents told you about your adoption?

mom of 4
you really should ask your parents about it and see if they will at least tell you the orphanage and the town , that would be helpful in searching , i tell my son anything he asks me about his birthmom , i know nothing at all about his b-dad but i'd tell him if i did , so just set down with them and let them know why you want to know , i really hope you get the answers you are looking for and wish you the best in your search for answers

Are you in India are in the US? A lot of doctors around here are from India and I would ask them what happens to birth records and just explain that you would like to find your parents and ask if they have any ideas.

But the place to start is with your adopted parents because they may very well have all the information and a lot of parents just don't talk about it afraid they will upset the adoptee. So ask.

You might want to consider social networks for adopted persons. Like facebook (http://www.facebook.com/) or/and Birth Parent Search (http://www.i-am-adopted.com/) The last one is social network special for adoptions. However I do think you must be at least 18 to join Good luck

You could consider social networks like http://www.facebook.com or/and http://www.i-am-adopted.com Last one is focused exactly on adoption matters

Hey I'm 15 too now I just turn. And I'm adopted from India too. I realigned want to find my birth mother. So I can talk to her and see her. Ask her questions. But, it was a closed adoption and all I have is a note that my adoptive parents won't let me read tell I'm 18. What should I do
