I have heard of it but was looking for more information. I was wanting to be a foster parent for a foreign child who needs surgery.
Additional Details
I would like to help out families from across seas who have a child who needs surgery by fostering their child while it is in the states. I know that people do it but /i would like to know how.

Actually, my mom has a friend who does this. They basically find a family who will 'foster' a child who needs surgery or medical attention. It's a program that helps out children in other countries who's parents can't afford to get them life saving treatments and/or surgery.
It's NOT an adoption program and the child goes back to their biological family once they've received treatment and recovered. I think it's a fabulous program. I'll edit this with info for you as soon as i make a few calls and find out what the program is called.

I know you can donate money to missionaries that go out & do surgeries for free. Such as the Mercy Ship travels all over the world to perform surgeries on people that would never even have that chance otherwise. I know we knew a family that did that.
Unfortunately, you're request sounds a lot like what McCain's wife did. She brought back an indian girl & then never returned her back to India after she had her surgery. |

I don't really know what you mean? Is this like sponsoring a family with a sick child? More info, please.
ETA: I don't know how you would do that, but would you be willing to host the child's family as well? I couldn't imagine letting my child go across the world to have surgery without me being by thier side. |

I don't think you can foster a child that isnt in your country, you can adopt but that's usually a long process. The foster care agency would pay for the surgery if the child was already in the foster care system. We need more details to give you more detailed advice. Sorry, hope this helps a little. |
