There are two ways to place a child for adoption: privately or through an agency. Privately, you find the adoptive parents or they find you and you just work out the details with a lawyer. Through an agency, you browse through numerous couples profiles and pick who you want. You can meet them before the birth and decide on the amount of contact (letters, visits...) after the birth. Adoption agencies would also be able to provide you with counseling (free of charge) if you so desire. I recommend using a nonprofit agency since it will be cheaper for the adoptive parents. Some agencies charge $30-$40K for a healthy white newborn and that is a lot. Non profit agencies give the same counseling and results but are a lot cheaper for the adoptive parents. Either way, you won't have to pay anything and can sometimes get reimbursed for medical expenses.
Adoption is a selfless act and I respect you for placing the needs of your baby ahead of your own.
Best of luck to you,
Christa

PLEASE dont do this. Of course you are NOT a bad parent. You are scared and weighing your options...that's what responsible parenting is all about.
You must realize there are other options, options that will not tear your family apart, hun. There are social service agencies that can help, churches, family members, etc.
You must think of the negatives that can come from this decision, too. What it could do to you, your child, and to your other children. Adoption should ONLY be a LAST RESORT, and ONLY if both parents are deceased, and there are no other family members. You must think of your emotional well-being, too, not just your child's. Please ask for outside help before you do this to your family.

Yes you do need his consent to place the baby for adoption. Both biolgoical parents have to agree to adoption. Think of getting the depo shot once you've had this baby it lasts 3months and always have a condom just for extra protection.

i would never put a baby up for adoption just have a close friend stay with you a while and help with the kids until you are back on your feet and don't need anymore help...DON'T DO IT

DO NOT CONTACT ANY OF THE PEOPLE HERE WHO ARE ASKING YOU TO!!!!

They want your child and this is NOT a safe place to find parents for an infant. Contact an agency and listen to the adoptee here.

Adoption is a permanent solution to a temporary situation. All bad things come to an end and so will this negative time in your life. Your baby needs you, not some stranger.

The babies father needs to sign off on the adoption.

Please make sure you know your rights - and know what you're getting you, your baby, your other children and your husband into.
This child wants to live in the family that he/she was born to. It's hard being given away - not being allowed to grow around those that you were born to.
Here's a brochure written by those that were cornered into adoption - and wish they knew more -
http://www.cubirthparents.org/booklet.pdf

Many adoptive parents will say - heck yeah - give that child away.
I've lived adopted my whole life - it's a hard life to live.
Adoption means no guarantees for the child.
Adoption is a long term solution to an often short term problem.
Seek out help - I'm sure you can find it.

I wish you and your family well.

This is something you really have to think about. Adoption is permanent.
If you are SURE then I suggest an open adoption which will allow you contact with your baby, but choose the adoptive parents wisely. Make sure they'll do what they say that they will.
My husband and I are looking into the foster care system now to adopt. It has amazed me how many unworthy people get children through adoption.
But there are also many wonderful families out there who would love and adore your child...we're hoping to be matched with a family soon. Sometimes it takes a lot of time though!
I'm just saying be very careful who you choose.

It sounds like adoption is the best option, especially for the baby. Your baby will be much happier in a financially secure environment with a stable 2-parent family. Of course it's going to be hard giving a baby up, but think about how it would feel down the road not to be able to adequetly provide for any of the children because of the baby's expenses. That makes adoption the best choice for not only the baby to be adopted, but the children staying with you as well. It sounds like the only way to have them all taken care of. Don't let some of the other people on here tell you different. They'll probably attack when they see the question, but remember, they're...different to put it nicely

EDIT- Why don't you contact an adoption agency? They're also there to help you make a choice, not just place the baby after you have decided to relenquish. They'd be the best ones to help you.
