You're an adult, if you want to find them, your A-parents can't stop you. Tell them you want the info, and leave it at that.

Most women who give up their children WANT to find them or be found.
Good luck in your search.

Don't listen to some of the other ignorant answers.

True, you do not know who your birthparents are or what they do.

But the only way you'll ever find out is BY searching for them instead of going "omg what if they don't like me / what if they've moved / what if they don't have good lives / what if, what if, what if."

You DON'T KNOW. That's the entire point of searching; you WANT to know. In my opinion, it is better to find something is TRUE rather than just sitting there and assuming something is false. At least you WILL know if you DO search.

And also IMO... you have the right to search.

If my daughter had not looked for me, we would have both missed out on a 9 year (and counting) relationship that saved both our sanity.

Most people who offer the crap answers like some you have gotten here have no clue or connection to adoption.

I did not dump my daughter.

This is not about your parents.

If someone feels replaced its because they have security issues.

My daughter loves her parents, they will always be her parents, her mom and dad. I am her mother, she has found her father.

Not all reunions go great. But would you rather know something for sure or possibly miss out on an important piece of your life because of the other peoples insecurities.

This has nothing to do with them, your feelings toward them, or replacing them.

This is about you, finding you. Nothing more.

I will be meeting my daughters parents as soon as we can schedule something that works for everyone. Her father is included in that too.

If you lost your virginity to someone that beat you to a bloody pulp, would you marry the guy just because he took your virginity? Or if you started dating a new great guy, would you keep in contact with the abuser just because they took your virginity?

The desire to be with someone who gave birth to you rather than the one who loved and cared for you is just as insane. What is so important about the birthers or devirginizers?

My daughter found me on adoption.com

Ok girly.. let me tell you a story
There was once a lil girl who grew up knowing she was adopted. I guess it gave her some kind of high when she was depressed she would picture what her life may have been like if she in fact met her birth family. So after turning 18 she moved out on her own and began searching online to find them. Just so happens what info she received was that she needed to be 21. So she got depressed but pushed it aside. After trying again she found a link to the hospital where she was born. Found her birth mother, then moved 5 hours away to live with the (new so called family).
Let me tell you what happened next was a surprise.
The birth mother took it as her lost daughter was coming home. This girl was looking to fit in all the lost pieces. Not to make a new family.
After months of trying to reverse her choice, she was not only tricked into getting tested to donate a kidney. The relationship got torn apart by the threads.
Bottom line. Finding your birth family isn't like the dream you dreamt growing up. Maybe things are better the way God planned. Some answers are meant to be unanswered.

If I could change what I did .... I would.

i found my husbands mother threw adopteeconnect.com

i knew her name and birthday and what hospital he was born at and a lady that works as a file clerk found the rest of the information. good luck to you

and i am sure they had a good reason to put you up for adoption, people can be so dumb. better to give a child a good home then make them grow up poor and unwanted

The best way to begin is to start form the begining! Did your parents get you from foster care?? IF so then you might want to go & see the social worker or whoever was in charge.Good Luck Best Wishes

In a way I dont think that it would be a good I idea because they gave you up for a reason and maybe they have different lives now. also they might not be what you want them to be either. plus I understand why your real parents dont want you to find them they might take it as you dont really care for them and or it might make them think that they didnt make you happy. I would really think if you want to do that to your self and loved ones first. if you still want to do it go to the court house of the city you were adopted in and they will be able to get you started.

Yep you got that right. No offense but, why would you want to find the people who dumped you in a foster home because they couldn't/wouldn't look after you? Some things are meant to be a mystery.
