i was adopted in manitoba through child and family services in 1970. i was born in manitoba. i have received my non-discriptive info regarding my birth mother. how do i get more info ie..a name?

In Manitoba you can add your name to their passive registry. That means that if the person you are searching for has also added their name they will be contacted and given the opportunity to reunite with you. If they have not registered you will be given your non-identifying information. No names and no copy of your adoption records or original birth certificate. From what I know about Manitoba adoption laws you are not able to access your original birth certificate or any documents that include identifying information at ANY time, even after reunion. |

Most provinces have post adoption services or a place where you can register your date of birth and any info you have along with the info. that you are looking for contact with birth parents. If one or both register with the service (Parent Finders is a good one) you will be contacted. Good luck. I registered with a Provincial service and my daughter contacted me 'bout 7 years ago. |
