Try Reunion.com and other sites. List EVERYWHERE! I suggest getting an anonymous e-mail just for listing so you don't put your main e-mail out there. Most states don't have open records but they do have CI programs. Get as much info as you can from the parents, state, agency, etc... The most valuable info you can have is bday, state and agency.

Best of Luck!

Oh and also, there are some sites where free search angels will help. Try searching Yahoo Groups for some.

Has your boyfriend talked to his mother about the baby (his brother)she lost to adoption, 20 years ago? That might be the first step he would want to take.

i started looking for my bmom at the courthouse in the county i was adopted through. i went to the 'birth/death/marriage' license dept and joined the adoption registry. it was free back then, i have no idea if that is still true.

they take your info and if any bio family of yours has also registered they match you. take every little tidbit of info. including his amended birth cert. the case numbers or file numbers should match on both his amended and his original. its how they track things.

after that....check out the sites the others have posted. i didnt use any of those, the registry worked for me.

Use an online people finder service, much cheaper than a detective agency.

I used this company before http://www.findermonkey.co.uk to help me find someone, it cost around £25/$30 which is a lot cheaper than the price the private detectives where asking!

Papers have to be filed in the county court system wher the adoption took place. If the state where you live has "sealed adoption" then you will have to petition the court to have the documents opened. BUt if it is not a sealed state then you just need to request the information. The papers will have all names, addresses, phone numbers etc. If the numbers or addresses are no good then google the name or do a people search on-line.

I was adopted and had to petition the court to have my documents unsealed. Once I received the papers I found my birth mom because her mom still lived at the same house with the same number from the year I was born. I found my birth dad by doing a people search for around $5.00. His information was all on it. Pretty easy to find people.

Was he adopted through an agency. Most likely you wont be able to get any information from them because of closed adoption laws, but there might be some kind of paperwork that might give you some clues.

Or you could call that show the Locator.

If you know the name of the adoption agency you can contact them and see if his birth parents left contact information. They have that option for the birth parents so if the child wants to find them after he turns 18 he can.

look on the internet- someone has to have a record. also try the place from where he was adopted- they usually have records of those people and who adopted them. good luck!

Birth Certificate and the hospial if you are over 18 or 21 then i think you google find my birth parents and there should be a website the reason i say 18 or 20 is because my brother was givin up and i tryed to find him and stuff but you could contact the hospital or go to www.drphil.com and tell them your problems and they can help you If you are willing to come on the show just google stuff like find my birth parents and you can also ask your bf parents because they would no even if they tell you they dont they do that's how i found out my grandma stays in contact with my brothers adopted parents and dont forget Adoption is not a bad thing its just someone gave you up because they cared wanted better
GOOD LUCK GOD BLESS
