I have mixed feelings about posting ANY child's photo on the internet. I have an adopted grandson and I've been very careful not to post his picture on any public sites and the main reason is because he was adopted through CPS. I've seen his birth parent's public arrest records and although my daughter assures me that they would never be able to track him down, I'm still uneasy about the whole situation. |

i don't know. they seem borderline exploited to me.
i understand the concept, but it seems kind of violating.
aren't we constantly telling our kids that it's dangerous to put their pics online bc of all the weirdos out there? it just seems a bit contradictory to me. |

This is a very good question. My feeling is that it is like a Pet calendar, here come adopt a pet/kid. They use that in our province, but only after they have exhausted all resources trying to find a family for a child. I am still on the fence, but was glad my children didn't have to be on a website (they would have been if we hadn't adopted them) |

As a child who was in foster care, I (and my sisters) would have given anything to be adopted by a loving family, so they could have plastered my photo on TV commercials for all I cared. Fortunately, I was lucky enough to have a great foster family that chose to adopt me. My sisters weren't so lucky. They had several foster families before they found permanent homes. |

It should be noted that while these children are in foster care- they are legally free. They have no legal parents outside of the state. They are not listed to find good foster homes- they are listed because they need a parent, and right now- none can be found for them.
We are adopting from foster care. There are hundreds of thousands of legally free children in America, children who have no parents. The photos you see online are only a small portion of the children waiting for homes.
I believe it is necessary to remind or educate people in America about the vast number of children in our own backyard who have no forever family. Photos are a very memorable and gut wrenching way to do that. I wish we did not have this crisis in America. I wish it was unnecessary. However- until everyone of these "orphans" has a home and at least one parent who will love that child forever- online photo directories are needed. |

i feel that it adds a human face to it as you're looking. It's one thing to just look at a paragraph but my heart just goes out to them when I actually see the faces.
I think that in order to get these kids out of the system, we have to think outside the box and do whatever is necessary (within reasonable means) to get them into families. |

I'm not sure how i feel about that! I suppose if that's what it is required to get these kids into good fosters homes then it's ok.
I did foster care in the past and I did not realize they went online.
I thought it should be more confidential..... |

What is your deal about the foster children?
The children on AdoptUsKids are there because everyone has decided that they don't want to adopt them... These kids are posted ONLY after they have waited forever and been passed over .... AdoptUsKids is one of the Last Resorts and Hopes these children have....
Thank God Someone Cares enough about them to TRY and get a family for them.... It only bothers people who can't or won't do anything For them.... |
