How do you find a toddler or a baby to adopt??

We are hoping to adopt in the US and are an approved family but need help figuring how to do so. Has anyone had luck advertising on their own?

You could contact your local Dept of Human Services, Children & Youth Division. They would be able to assist you with a foster/adopt program for children who are currently need loving homes/families.
You can also work through a reputable adoption agency to help you identify a biological family. This can be a lengthy process depending on the type of adoption agency you use - some allow the birthparents to "pick" the adoptive family from profiles, others may try to match the families themselves.
If you are interested in doing a private adoption (through an attorney or as an "identified" adoption thru an agency), I would suggest mentioning your desire to adopt to all of your friends & family. This is how we met our son's bio-family, through a neighbor of our's who worked with someone who had a child they were making an adoption plan for. You could also try speaking to local OB/GYN offices. I would just hesitate to "advertising" for a child on-line due to the scams that are out there as well as the different regulations that some states have with "how" you find a family.

Use an agency, that's my advice to anyone/everyone. Make sure its reputable. If you try and solicit yourself, the birth mom can always come back and claim coersion. An agency can guide you through the process. They will make sure that everyone has access to counselling if needed. This has to be a win/win for everyone. |

Well, try your local foster care for starters. If they're under 8, they terminate rights fairly quickly to give the kids permanency. We've had a total of four sibling groups that could be considered babies/toddlers, the oldest being a pre-school 5 year old, the youngest being 5 months. Also, sometimes, adoptuskids.com has younger kids on it. |
