The other answers you've received are pretty good. Finding your biological family can be a long road with a lot of cross streets and confusing directions. Take it from someone whose been doing it for like 30 years. Your best bet is support from people who are in the same boat. Check out Yahoo Groups for adoptees seeking, and see what pops up. Join a few groups, ask questions, get involved and follow through. Hopefully, you will get your answers eventually. Just hang in there. Never forget that you're not alone, ok? Good luck. Get the book, Birthright by Jean A.S Strauss. It is an excellent reference for getting started searching.

Look up the regulations for the state in which your adoption was finalized and find out what information you can obtain. Many states will provide you with non identifyinfg and medical info if they have it. Some, a very few states will allow you access to your original birth certificate.

Do register with Soundex aka ISSR.

Check online adoption registries. I found my bio family a year ago on adoption.com's registry. Look at th entire month of your birth, not just the day. My firstmom was off a day on my birthday, I had been checking th adoption.com registry for years but neve looked at the whole month until one day last year...and there she was.

I went to the local adoption centre near me , lucky for me my biological mother had wrote to them a few years earlier and left an address in case i got in touch , before you look for your biological parents i would think long and hard about getting in touch with them it is a very big step to take and maybe a life changing one , good luck if you find them and hope everything goes well!!!!!!!!!!!!

You should be able to go to the adoption agency. Normally whoever adopts you has all that information from the agency but if not then the agency will have your file.
