How expensive is adoption?

I adopted 2 children and paid about $35 total for each. I didn't have an attourney. I did the paperwork myself with the agency's help (state DCF) and filed it myself. it depends on who you adopt from and whether you have to hire a lawyer.

Foster-Adopt can cost close to nothing.
Domestic $10,000-50,000
International $15,000-50,000

Adoption is a lot of money.

From any place of the world has different prices but some prices are about $30 000 ---- $120 000 for 1 child because you need to pay for transport (for the plain ticket) for the child.

Also it depends on the age.

If you adopt from your country and you can pick them up so it would be as cheap as $10 000 ---- $50 000 for one child.

Good Luck With Everything.

It varies tremendously. The least expensive adoption would be through the foster care system. This usually costs nothing except court fees to make the adoption legal (less than $1,000). International adoption can cost as little as $10,000 and as much as $35,000. It depends on the country, and on what grant programs are available. There is a wonderful international agency called WACAP (www.wacap.org). They have grant money to offset the adoption expenses for certain children they call "Promise Children." These children usually have some kind of special need. Their adoption fees are completely paid for by the grant agency, and all the adoptive family has to pay are the travel expenses to the child's country.

The most expensive type of adoption is domestic infant adoption. That can run upwards of $40,000.

It really has several variables. It will depend on the type of adoption - private, agency or foster care, whether you choose international or domestic adoption, etc. I would highly recommend contacting a reputable adoption agency in your area to discuss the different types of adoption and the fees associated with it. You may also want to contact your local Dept of Human Services - Children & Youth Division - to discuss foster care adoption also. The state will often help or offer reduced fees for foster adoption.

Good luck to you.
