How hard is it as a single woman to adopt...will i be able to when i finish uni?
|
I will be a partly qualified accountant when i finish uni and have an offer of a job (with the company i did my years placement with) I wouldn't want to adopt like the very day i leave uni, probably would want to wait until i become chartered. I'm a mature student and will be 28 when i graduate. So probably will be about 30 when i am wanting to adopt. Of course everything could change and i could be swept of my feet by the love of my life....i'd still want to adopt though.
I'm in the UK. Never been arrested or anything. Am going to have a well paid job. So do you think i will be able to adopt? How long does it take? When should i start applying? Additional Details As far as i know i can have kids, but i want to adopt as there are too many kids without homes.

Christ, this is getting ridiculous.
HI. I'm an adoptee, in the UK. I'm 17 and I think you sound great.
We need more people who want to give a kid a home and fewer people saying 'don't adopt it ruins lives.. Have your own kids instead. It's EASIER.'
Being adopted as most likely SAVED my life and I'm very grateful for it. And I'm very grateful for people like you who are willing to give kids who already exist homes they need.
- To whoever made the 'have you read your UK Newspapers, how many children are taken unjustly..' Have YOU read our UK Newspapers? Then you too will know how many women sleep with footballers or kill their own mothers.. Honestly. If all the tabloids/papers told was truth we'd all be half-breed human/pig hybrids with crosses tattooed on our foreheads and TORI tattooed on our rear ends, sleeping with both Posh AND Becks and there would be NO MOTHERS AT ALL because they would all have been killed by their rampant stripping daughters all of whom would be sleeping with Russell Brand.
Jeebus.
I wonder how many people answering actually know anything about the UK Adoption system?
Uck.

I'd personally say adopt from foster care rather than applying for a newborn. You will have more options and be doing good by a child who has already been entered into a system which, without adopters like yourself, they might become trapped in forever.
Good luck, and message me if you have questions for myself or my (adoptive) parents.
EDIT: Orphanage? That made me LOL. What country are you living in, sorry? Or maybe you live in England, just.. You know, INSIDE Oliver Twist. |

There are many older children available through foster care. If you would like a baby, it would be best to have your own. You're young! Congrats on your upcoming graduation. |

Have you read your newspapers over there in the UK? Watched the BBC?
So many of these "kids who need homes" were illegally or unjustly taken from perfectly fine homes to begin with.
You might want to pay more attention to your secret family court and your government's big bonuses for larger adoption numbers.
No wonder they are removing children for no good reason.
Please don't contribute to that by being one more demanding customer; have your OWN. |

oh my god honey!
You can adopt,
it doesnt matter if your single,
a man or woman,
or have a good paid job or not,
you sound like you would make a brilliant mum
and i know that from what you said you are sure you want to.
Like me!!
i really really want to adopt too,
i do have a bf but even if i didnt i would still of done it.
it depends on how long it takes,
but ring your local council and tell them your looking to adopt and would like to know some more information.
they will help you from there.
Good luck honey...x |

claire bear. Grrr!
|
from what i have heard, it makes no difference if you are single.
Some children may come from families where they would feel uncomfortable to have a male in the house (in the case of abused children for example). |

Your only 28, still young. I think you should find a man and have your own kid. I'm not sure that waiting lists are that long for adopting especially not adopting babies.
Also while you can raise a kid by yourself, a kid growing up without a dad is all ways hard. for the kid. |

The adoption thing is a long process. I would start enquiring now. Get yourself on a list because although there may not be a waiting list, the legal is more than enough time that would be wasted.
They may give you a hard time, they may not. As long as you appear stable and committed then they will consider you. I must say what a noble thing your doing, Ive thought of it also. It takes so much love from a person, anyone can be a parent but its another thing to open your heart and doors to another child. |
