How long does the adoption process take in ireland?

Or is there any other way to parent a child other than adoption we are desperate to bring up a child as our own because we cannot do it the natural way

The local authorities are always looking for foster parents. Or you could volunteer for organizations like Homestart or Surestart.

Playing the 'as if born to' game won't help your desperation. I think being around children and making a difference in their lives can be very rewarding and besides; it's not nice for adoptees to feel like they were the last resort for their parents - like some kind of second-rate consolation prize KWIM?

Do contact your local authority - there are alot of kids who's lives you could touch in a positive way.

Have you tried your government social services department?

They should be able to give you information on the local process in Ireland. I did a search and found a website about local Irish adoptions. (Hope it helps.)

You still have the heart to raise a child, so don't be put off by people who don't understand your situation.

Good Luck, and I hope it works out for you.

Website on local Irish adoption.
