How long will it take and what are the costs involved?

The adoption or fostering process - how long it takes, and the costs involved

Fostering - you must get certified and/or licensed to become a foster parent. That process varies state by state, but it is usually free and should only take a couple of months. It usually involves background checks, inspections of your home, and classes on first aid, dealing with foster children's issues, and legal issues. Once you begin to foster, usually, the state will pay you for each day the child is in your home, more if you take in 'high demand' children. The children will also have all of their medical paid for and sometimes their daycare as well. Once you are licensed, you may have a placement within days or several months, depending on what sorts of children you are willing/able to foster (high needs, older, etc)

Adoption via fostering - The process is the same as with fostering, except that you need to also go through a "home study". This is an in depth interview process conducted by a social worker (all adoptive parents have to do this, even in private adoption). Once you do adopt, the state usually covers all or most of the cost of the adoption. How long can depend on many factors, again, much depends on who you are interested in adopting. If you only want a 'healthy caucasian infant', that may take years. If you are willing to adopt older children, minorities, special needs kids, or siblings, things can happen much faster.

Well, I was given away as soon as my umbilical cord was cut. I'll still be dealing with my adoption issues the day I die...so, I'm hoping that will be around 80 years total.

The costs to me have been immeasurable. However, since it is the MONEY you're worried about: several thousand dollars to get educated about adoption well into my adulthood and have my records unsealed by the courts.

It seems you are too lazy to do your own reaseach, since you've posted this question, oh, what, 10 times?

Why not go to an agency (!) and tell them you're interested. It's JUST like going to a car dealership--they will walk you through it, honey!

I actually missed your asking of the same question over and over again. At least you finely reworded it in a legible manner.

How long it takes is different every time. Could be months, could be years.

As for the costs, it depends upon what you want to do. If you want to adopt then it's free through foster care, thousands through agencies and even more if you go internationally.

There is no cost for foster care.

ok...this question has been asked et nauseum. it's called "search for question." it's the little white and green box right below the "ask...answer...and discover" features.

fostering is free. Adoption takes awhile. I am actually suprised you asked this question, in comparison to your previous questions.

Reading, studying, learning: It never stops.

Birthers are NOT mothers
Fostering is free. Agency adoptions can take months to years, but they do cost you your soul. You are a very snotty well to do woman who believes you are somehow entitled to others babies right? Perhaps this could be a reason you were granted infertility. Just an observation!
