For an adoption from an agency, either domestic or international, the fees are $15,000 - $30,000 or higher. I don't have personal knowledge of private adoptions or foster care, so I'll leave that part of the answer to the folks who know. |

I'll give you the figures I have dealt with personally.
Our international adoption only cost us $800 US but we were living in the country at the time. If we had done the same adoption, same child, but from Canada it would have been about $25,000.
Our last adoption was domestic, through foster care, and was 100% free to my wife and I. In fact, they supported the child financially while she was with us as a foster child and now that she is adopted we still get a monthly allowance for her care till she is 18. Not every area, and I would suspect, not many, actually do that.
I don't know about private adoptions domestically. I've heard they could be anywhere from $10-20k as well. I'm sure others can tell you better. |
