Research it by reading about what its like for an adopted child.
Read:
The Primal Wound
Coming Home to Self
The Journey of the Adopted Self
20 Things that Adopted Kids Wished Their Adoptive Parents Knew
And many more that I can't remember right now. But if you find those, I'm sure you can find similar books or books by the same author. Many of these authors have written many good books focused on adoption.
Some other people (e.g. Phil, Sunny) on here will be able to refer you to other great sources.
And then after you've researched it properly, if you still want to adopt, adopt from foster care because those kids actually NEED homes.
And just remember, that child is not your child until they accept you as their parent. That may never happen, then again it might. Don't assume that a piece of paper makes you their parent in their mind. |

some states allow singles to adopt and some don't. (wisconsin does) You can either go through an agency or call your local social services and go through the foster care program. |

i think that for the most part it is nearly impossible for a single man to adopt a child.
if you want to be a parent, let it happen naturally, do it the right way. find a woman who you want to marry. marry her. and then adopt a child.
