How to find birth parents?

I was just able to get my birth certificate prior to adoption and now I don't know the next step. All I have are my biological parents names and age and I am at a complete loss on what to do from here. Any help?
Additional Details
There was also no adoption agency, I was adopted through an attornery and my adoptive parents aren't so forth coming with all that information.

I know it sounds really stupid but search for them on myspace. I have an adoption paper that says my brothers and sisters names since we were all separated and I found one of them! It might be different though since a lot of teens/young adults have myspace and not as many older people do. good luck!

First register with these sucessful reuinion registries:

http://registry.adoption.com/

http://isrr.net/

Then let us know which State you were born and adopted in so a State specific answer can be given (some have registries, others will put you in touch with your parents, they all differ)

Loads of help out here, just ask anytime! There are loads of supportive search groups and I'd be happy to put you in touch with the relevant ones.

ps. Watch out for the anti-search crowd and don't be put off by their negative comments. If you want to search, then don't let anyone put you off. If I'd listened to them I would never have the wonderful relationship I now have with my Mom :)

Get the book "Birthright: A Guide to Search and Reunion" by Jean A.S. Strauss. It is a great resource for taking the next step.
Good luck.

Wow!!! That is awesome!!! You have a gift, in the fact you have your OBC & your parent's names.

Go to some of the reunion search sites, and sites such as Classmates.com. Craig's List is becoming a valuable tool in searches, too. Put an ad on Craig's List in the state, and in the city where they were from. Also, on classmates, you can post messages in the high schools in their area.

As some have said, Google is a very powerful tool, as is Facebook and Myspace. If you dont have those accounts, start one now.

Congrats & Happy New Year!

Feel free to contact me - I subscribe to some databases whereby I can look up their names and try to find current information. It's a little more difficult to find a woman because typically she's married and her name has changed; but often we can track the woman through other relatives. If you have their ages and better yet their exact birthday - it also makes it alot easier. I see Classmates, Facebook, MySpace are recommended and I agree they're excellent tools. Google is the bomb!!

Don't hire anyone or pay anyone money until you try working with a search angel(s). Search angels are volunteers who are typically first mothers or adoptees who assist searchers on a volunteer basis. There are several on this site. They don't charge money but might ask to have any expenses such as gas/parking reimbursed if they physically go to libraries, courthouses etc. to look things up.
But if you have their actual names - there's a very good chance you can find them!

Try Adoption Database. You'll need to register at adoptiondatabase.org and then you'll be able to post a request for help from other members on adoptiondatabase@googlegroups.com. You will get LOTS of help on there. btw - It's all free, no catches or ads or gimmicks.
There are 2 other great resources that I know of:
Virtual Gumshoe [also free] which has links to FREE public records in all 50 states, and
Ultimate Adoption Searchbook [free e-book]

first , if you are not yet 18 , and your parents aren't accepting of your search, it is illegal for the lawyer to help you. If you are of age, Go to the lawyer that helped with the adoption. He will have all the info you need, and can and will contact your birth parents for you.
As an adopted child myself, I understand how anxious you are to find answers and for health reasons, it could prove important. BUT, you have to be ready for rejection too. Many people have lives they don't want interpreted as you could be a secret. BUT, if this is the case, leave your contact info with the lawyer and have him tell the parents he has it if they change their minds. Most , not all, do.
If they don't want contact, you could instruct the lawyer to ask the important health questions you have a right to know.

higher a private detective, or google them on one of those "find people" sites. maybe that will help.

You could go through the adoption agency that worked your adoption but I find them to be very pricey. They would talk to you and then ask your biological parents if they want to get in contact.
