When i was a baby, i guess my parents died or gave me up because i was in an orphanage for like 10 months, in Ukraine, and then i was adopted. i am not telling you my age, but i live in NJ. And i really want to find my real parents or my mom at least. if they are still around... i always thought i can never find them... but i don't know. i don't know my real name, or my real families name, or who they are. So it would be pretty hard... is there a way i can find them. I am desperate. i feel like a part of me is missing... and i miss them every day... they probably speak Ukrainian though so it would be pretty hard... i just want to re connect with my family. is there a way??? because i don't know any information about them, or anything... i need help... i am old enough now to know who they are.... All i know is that in the orphanage they called me Tanya...

The first thing I would suggest is getting access to every scrap of paper your parents have from your adoption. We have all the original documents and certified translations of our children's adoptions. I imagine your parents have yours stored away somewhere too. There should be some clues in there.
You should try contacting the agency that handled your adoption and seeing if they do anything to assist adult adoptees who are searching. Some larger agencies do this.
There are registries you can sign up on that will notify you if there is a match. I think they are somewhat limited in usefulness where there is a language barrier because your parents would have to have found out about the same registry and signed up as well.
Lastly, I would suggest looking into internet groups that might be able to help. I know there are Yahoo groups and websites for adult Korean adoptees who are searching. There might be something for people from the Ukraine. Just don't bother with anyone who wants money up front. |

I think the only thing you could do is to go to the Ukraine and find the orphanage. That's the place to start. |
