I'd like to adopt from Russia/Ukraine. I'm in the UK?

I'd like to adopt from Russia/Ukraine. I'm in the UK?

Does anyone know any helpful sites to look for information regarding procedures etc. Also does anyone know of any reputable agency's? Either that you've used yourself or a friend/family has.

Kind regards
Additional Details
We will be visiting the Ukraine when the child is older. Social services rejected us because of my husbands cancer. It's cleared up now and the chemo has finished but they don't want to risk another bout.

I think your best bet would be to contact an adoption agency that handles adoptions in Ukraine. If you can't find one then try contacting the Ukraine embassy and then see if they can recommend one that will work with one of your local ones. Adoption agency have different standards and while one may say that you couldn't adopt because of a past history of cancer, there will be one out there that will allow it. Generally that want you to be so many years cancer free and I think you have been. This is not the best place to get info as some people take every chance they get to discourage people from adoption as they don't like it. personally, I think it is great and wish you luck

You wanna adopt from elsewhere, GO LIVE ELSEWHERE.

You've got no chance over here 'cause the SS still have to ok it even if it is a foreign adoption.

You have been rejected by social services for a good reason. An adoptee has already lost one set of parents- they should never be placed in a home where they could lose another one. Sorry, but as a 10 year cancer "survivor", I know that there is no cure for cancer. I'm on borrowed time. Your husband is no exception.

If you aren't willing to move to Russia or the Ukraine, don't adopt from there. A child shouldn't have to lose his home country, customs, culture, and language because YOU want a child.

What's wrong with adopting from social services in the UK?

ETA: Planning on visiting Ukraine sometime in the future isn't good enough. You're not hearing what you want to hear, so you're discounting good advice. Seriously? Would YOU want to give up everything you've ever known (language, culture, customs, people who look like you, etc.) to be spirited away to another country by strangers? Orphans have already lost their parents. Isn't that enough loss for a lifetime? Just because YOU want to adopt doesn't mean you're right for it. I'm sorry about your husband's cancer. I truly am. That's something that no one should have to deal with and the fact that he is a survivor is outstanding! But Linny's right: no child should have to face losing a parent at a young age...ESPECIALLY if that child has already lost a set of parents. Social services denied you for a very good reason. Instead of being pissy about it, think about what is best for the CHILD. You're being selfish, pure and simple.

You can't as you've been rejected by social services already and you would need to be approved by social services first even to adopt internationally.

Sir asks a lot
I googled and found this one.

I was also going to suggest you look at social services first. Looking at your reasons I agree with you. If he has been clear for 23 years there shouldn't be a problem. I don't know what to advice you, perhaps calling the Ukraine embassy would be an idea. They may be able to put you in touch with the right people.
