Like most Islamic countries, Iran does not have an international adoption program with the United States. However, India does have an international adoption program. I would recommend contacting an accredited agency with a program in India for more details. |

Adoptions from India are possible. Although I'm Canadian I've done one and I know many different American families that have adopted as well. Any info you need on adoptions from India is contained on this site: http://www.adoptionindia.nic.in/ |

I think Muslim countries tend to have a negative social stigma with adoption hence it might be difficult. Not to get into religious politics here, but Iran as a Shiite country does allow adoption unlike most Sunni dominated countries. India tends to be opposed to foreigners adopting Indian chlildren perhaps your heritage or religion(if you have one) might be beneficial, although I know plenty of people who have adopted children from India. Its more common and it follows an international system. I would say the Kashmir region might be ideal but good luck, its a very noble thing to do. |
