We are British, English to be precise. I'm 20 years old. He's 22.
Can we adopt a female baby ?
I don't know the laws about it.

It doesn't matter what your gender preference may be. Infant adoption in the U.K. is quite rare. Even the Milebands had to come to the U.S. to get an infant. I suspect they had to pay upwards of $75,000 US, too.
P.S. You should have no problem with adopting a child from the care system, and I hope you do. |

Don't know what your laws are over there, but , generally they check out your back grounds , see if you have the means to support a child, have a proper space for the child to live . And babies are a big responsibility, you might need some training on what it's like to be parents .it's a 24/7 venture. |

i do believe you can, i know that you can foster too, try getting in touch with your local social services department for further advice any thing is worth a go.

I don't know whether it is the same in England, but I have heard of very successful adoptions by gay couples.
My personal opinion is, that as long as a child receives unconditional love, and have two loving parents, then if it was up to me, that is all that is important.
Good luck and keep trying to adopt. Don't let a "no" stop you, keep going towards that dream of being parents. |

It's funny how some people are asking "I don't see why not" or "what does your gender have to do with it?". They need to read up on America sometime and all of our remaining injustices.

Of course...and as with straight adopters - you have to undergo the usual tests (criminal records/social standing etc). Why does she have to be - well...a she? Do you think a boy might find reason for 'suing' if he finds out, years down the line he's more attracted to lads come his late teens/early twenties, no matter how lawful and loving you had brought him up? |

How many gay couples do you know who got together in their early 20s and are together in 5, 10, 15 years?
I can't think of one. Adopted kids deserve more than you can offer them.
See if you're together in 5 years, then consider foster care... |
