I'm getting my adoption files from my adoptive Mum soon...?

...I'm hoping it will help me trace my biological mother and father, but I'm wondering what sort of information it will contain, I'm hoping to find things such as:
*Both of their names
*Both of their dates of birth
*The age I was when I was took from them
*WHY I was took from them
*And all my baby facts...

Doe's anyone know if thats what I will find?
Additional Details
I was told at about 12yrs old about being adopted when I was 3 and that I was taken away from my mother as she was very young, and treat us bad, not on purpose but because she had no idea how to look after me, she also had my brothers and sisters taken away from her. She has about 11 of us so far was what I was told.
I'm the oldest and the reason she had so many of us was due to the fact that she was devastated when each of us were taken from her one by one.
(The above was what have been told to me by my social workers when I was in my teens, I don't have them anymore so wouldn't know how or where to contact them to find out more)

I think you are from the UK if so I can tell you the kind of information that I got. Please remember I am older than you so the information that I received maybe different. I also went to social services and got more information but i had to wait until I was 18.

Yes I got both of my bio parents name

I got the date of birth of my bio mum's and my bio fathers age(my bfather wasn't aware of my birth so the Information came from my bmum)

I was adopted from birth so there was some history of what happened in the 6 months between birth and adoption.

It didn't state the reason why (the information i got from social services when I was 18 had more information, it didn't say why but it was quite obvious)

It did have my baby facts like time of birth, weigh and things like that.

I found where my bio mum lives quite easily - but haven't met her yet

Good luck

i think it also depends on the state you were born in.

there was absolutely nothing but lies and no names in my files. nothing.

i still found her though. and 17 half siblings.

time for a change
It all depends on the situation on by birth files (I'm adopted too) it has my mothers name but my fathers was not registered no dates of birth, I know where my grandparents came from but not names, I know my mother gave me up and why and I know her age.

There can be any amount of reasons you were adopted dont just assume you were taken from your birth mother.

Good luck with whatever choice you make in the future after you get this information. There is an adoption contact register you could check out its here http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/adoptions/adoptioncontactregister/index.asp

I think it just depends my file did have my natural mothers name. It had some other details of my birth like I was born at home time, weight etc. Mentioned substance abuse It did not have birthday but did say she was young and had a previous child. Said why I was placed for adoption. There was not much about biofather other than he worked for the city, was a good looking man of average intelligent I am sure some have more , others may have less.

I agree with the others, it all depends. My records had very little, no name of biological mother or the possible fathers, had a brief description of how tall they were and how much they weighed. It also had very little medical history.

My adoptive brother had tons of information in his records, but still no names. He had medical history of both sides of the family for several generations.

I sure hope your records have tons of information that will be helpful.

Your Mum will only have some of the information, the stuff that was given to her at the time. However, I don't know why she would withold information she already has from you until now.

Once you are 18 you are entitled to your whole entire file in your own right from Social Services.

Good luck and I hope you get the info you are looking for.
