In the meantime, the International Soundex Reunion Registry at http://isrr.net is the largest reunion registry in the world. Mind you, reunion registries aren't well publicized, so not everyone knows about them. However, they do yield some success.

I was adopted in California. Non-id was the only information to which I was entitled, as well. Yet, I located my first family and have been happily reunited for 7 years now. I know many others who have done the same with similarly limited information.

Update your question with the state where you were adopted.

Ohio's law regarding information access is dependent upon when your adoption took place. This is what is states:

If you were adopted prior to 1.1.1964, you can get a copy of your original birth record:

If you were adopted after 1.1.1964, you can request your adoption records (where the original birth record is stored,) but you won't necessarily get it. You'll need to petition the court for that:

I would register with the site below. Adoption.com is a reputable company. If your birthparents are searching for you also, this is one way to start the process. Best of luck to you. Our son is adopted and since we have a semi-open adoption, hopefully his birthparents will be east to find.

Perhaps you could give the agency your contact information and ask them to pass it along to your birth mother and father with a message that you would like to meet them.

Depends on the state you live in. Some states have a registry where you, your parents, and other relatives can register there name. If anyone comes looking for them, it gives the state or agency to give out the identifying information. My adoption agency had that information to give me. Maybe you can contact the agency again and ask them. I'm surprised they would not have mentioned that to you. I know there may be a national registry and other websites where people post looking for parents or children. Good luck.
