I'm thinking about adopting 2 kids...What do you think about adoption?

Friends are trying to discourage me from doing this. They claim that most American kids are problem children that nobody wants, and that sometimes things get so bad that the adoptive parents have to send the kids back. I've been doing some research and I'm still thinking about it. Anyone who's adopted kids have any suggestions?

please do not let anyone discourage you from adopting. what a blessing it is to have children on this earth that are waiting for you. you might not have them come from your genes but if you believe in a higher power you might understand that these childeren were meant for you. from gods arms, to her arms, to yours. these children or teens are not guaranteed to come "damage-free" but think of the difference you could make to them. you could be the change they need in their lives. thank you for your consideration into adoption. you are very selfless. : ]] good luck!

Adoption is wonderful, and I'm glad you're considering it. My little cousin is adopted, and he's the sweetest thing ever. One of my two best friends is adopted, too, and she's really nice. I know I'm going to adopt kids someday. I think you should go for it.

I have adopted three children through Family and Children Services, they are our blessings. My middle son that was born crack positive, is a senior in high school and he is going to college next year on a ROTC Scholarship, my daughter is married with a beautiful baby, my three year old has a 70 percent speech delay, but he is fluent in sign language and he can communicate. It has not always been easy, but it has been worth it!!!!!!!!!
Enter into the adoption process with a open mind. Yes, there are some children that have problems, but they still need a loving home and family.
You might want to consider becoming a foster parent or doing volunteer work at a program or agency. Get to see how precious these children are, you will not regret it.

As an adoptee, I think it's wonderful! After doing some research on my birth parents, I am so glad that I was not brought up in the environment that was outlined about them when I was born. ANY child is far better off being adopted out to a well-scrutinized adoptive family than being raised in an orphanage or by less-than-qualified parents.

Do give some thought, though, to being a "Big Brother", or fostering a child first, before you take the plunge of legal adoption.

Good luck to you!

As an adoptive parent of 2 I have no regrets at all. My life would not be complete without my children. So far no problems here. People who are uneducated about adoption make the wrong assumptions.

I haven't adopted, but I think it is a great idea. You can give a child love and affection that they have been missing their whole life. I would go to a local orphanage and spend as much time with the kids as possible to see if they really are bad children (which I don't think they will be).

Do it!! Look around you - You'll see a lot of problem kids that still live with their bio-parents.

What do you mean "that nobody wants," Is your name nobody? Obviously, you want them.
