I'm trying to find information on giving up a child for adoption in Louisiana.?

I'm 24 and pregnant. We (my husband and I) are planning on giving the child up for adoption and need some information. Because he's in the military we are stationed in Louisiana and I've already talked with social workers on base. They weren't much help because they get numerous calls for wanting to adopt but not too many for adopting out. So I'm completely lost as to how to start the process. I've looked online with no help there. Is there a certain "group" I need to talk to because he is in the military to make it easier or is any "group" acceptable? Any help, information, suggestions would be helpful.

Just a warning - your child will most likely never understand why - when you are married - you would give him/her away.
I know too many adoptees - and the one's that have parents that are actually married - find it the hardest of all.
Adoption is a long term solution to an often short term problem.
Children WANT and NEED to grow up surrounded by those that look like them - act like them - have talents like them - for better self identity and self worth.
No story will EVER make up for the fact that you decided to give this child away.
NO story.
Make sure you read this - and know fully what you are getting in to -

I just don't want to see another adoptee given away - when it may not absolutely need to happen.
Adoption should be about finding homes for children that truly need it - in cases of abuse etc.
Not because they were just conceived and born at an inconvenient time.
That hurt - stays forever.

Why do you want to give up your child? You at least have a husband, and he works. This is 2 things that should help you keep your baby. Do you really feel that you will not love or want your baby once he or she is born? Adoption is for children who are unloved and unwanted and is actually "legalized abandonment" if you take the strict legal POV on it (adoption court records in fact actually used the word "ABANDONED" in them not that long ago even if it was "voluntary surrender"). I suggest you wait until after your child's birth to see if indeed he or she is unloved or unwanted. If you do love and want to keep your child, you deserve EVERY resource necessary for you to do so. Anything else is a violation of your human rights -- the same rights your husband in the military fights to protect.

Check the home town that you are both from. I want to share with you that a child is a blessing. When you get older you are going to think about he/she a lot. The child will be left out on a lot of answers/questions. Can you guys get a family member to help out.

Whats up from NOLA... I know Catholic Charities arranges a lot of adoptions and they're big in Louisiana, my sis works at one in BR and my friend here in NOLA does too... you could call an adoption agency... there are usually ads in the paper from couples who want to adopt, perhaps you could start there. There are also a lot of online groups, maybe that would be a good way to get in touch with lots of people but I would be careful with the internet...
Good luck

Try calling an adoption attorney. Good luck. What you are doing is very unselfish. If you need someone to talk to, feel free to message me on yahoo messenger. I am a pretty good listener and non judgmental
