I've been asking my mum to adopt a child but...?

She said that now her kids have grown up (I'm 24, the oldest) she just wants to take it easy. But she said I should consider adoption after 25. Only problem here is... I don't intend to get married but I'd love to have kids. I don't see how I can have one without the other. I heard you have to be married to adopt.

My question is obvious. Is it true? And if a single can adopt, would it be more of a struggle? I just think that there are loads of single parents out there doing a good job and I don't see why it should be a barrier to adoption.

I'm in the UK as well and there is absolutely no reason why you shouldn't adopt just because you're single. You're over 21 which is the minimum requirement but if you want more advise google NCH, BAAF or adoption agencies and whatever area you live in. Any of these will be willing to send you literature and will probably send you a list of books to read particularly if you ask. You're more than welcome to contact me privately as I can recommend an adoption agency that is helpful. |

Yes indeed you can, just you have got to provide a good home for them, which is your home and make sure you can support them. It would be more of a struggle because obviously first off they don't really know you, and they would take time to get used to the house and you, depending on their age.
But yes you definatly can adopt if your a single parent. |

Single people can adopt, as long as you can show you are responsible enough for the child
but i would like 2 add 25 is too young wait for a couple of years...u may even find some 1 u love & have babies with him instead...
the other thing is that u have to be financially well settled plus give the agencies valid reason for adoption |

Yes single people can adopt, obviously as long as you can show you can provide for the child. 25 is young to be thinking about this though, you never know who you might meet and want to have children with in the future... |
