Whilst I think that it is possible and I genuinly believe most people can - the fact that you are asking the question suggests that you may not be suitable for adoption.

It is a question that shouldn't really need asking.

Anne G - your comments are unfounded and uncalled for this is a question on adoption not abortion - the two are different but may be sensitive to some adopted people. I suggest you take your opinions to the relevent place.

It is absolutely possible for an adoptive parent to feel the same about their adopted children as they do their biological children. However, how the parents feel toward the child does not determine how the child feels about himself. The fact is that you have a bond with your biological child that you don't - CAN'T - have with your adopted child. (You might also have a bond with your adopted child that you can't have with your biological child, but that's not the point...I'm talking about the adoptee.) It is devastating for some adoptees to realize that their parents have a bond with another human being that they can't have with them. IMO, it's not worth taking the chance that your adopted child will feel that way. People so often talk about doing what's best for you (the parents)...but I'd prefer to do what's right for the CHILD. Whether you can love an adopted child the same is irrelevant to their feelings about themselves.

Mom to Foster Children

YES YES YES! Sometimes I think I love him more because when I ask him to do something - he's like ok mommy -- where the other two say oh, Mom - can I do it tomorrow? No, just kidding - I love all three of my children (and my foster only son) all the same but in many different ways!

My eldest son is adopted (not because I had fertility problems), and my two younger kids are biological. Yes. I do.

I don't have bio children, but I did have a miscarriage before and I know that I still love that baby who would have been as much as I love the 7 children I have now.

i am only thirteen but i still say that i feel about all the little children who dont have any parents! i would say that adopting a child would be a very good thing for u as well as for the lucky child

Hm that's a good question. Of course! Well if you are adopting and you wanna save a life at the same time i recommend you to go to the abortion clinic in your city and ask one of the mom's instead of killing her baby you can take care of him/her.

In my opinion, the characteristics and traits of your child are not only determined by their genetic coding, but by what you as benevolent and devoted parent teach them through their years. Being a parent means more then being biologically related, in term's of love and care, they require your sympathy through times as such that they feel only they can confide within you.Considering in the superficial is shallow. The question at hand is: would you pss on your same characteristics to that of a fraternal child, if it were your biological?
