I dont know what to say? first contact with bmom?

i'm adopted & my bmoms information is released to me on october 8th. i have no idea what to possibly say when i call her because i don't know her...but i'm looking so forward to meeting her. what can i say when i call her? i don't want things to be too awkward

I was incredibly surprised in how similar we were and are. It will start to flow naturally, don't stress over it, remember you came from her. You already know her on a cellular level, ask her about her life, think about the things in your life that you want her to know. Congrats!!!

just let her know that you have waited a long time to finally be able to talk to her, and that you are ready to start a relationship with her. im sure she will welcome you with open arms. best of luck to you!

Your best bet is to let her lead the conversation - she's probably going to have tons of questions for you and will want to make you comfortable.

Maybe ask where she is from, where she lives now, ask about her family, ask if you have siblings, etc... Asking a question is a good way to break the ice and get a conversation going. You'll be fine. Good LUCK!

i'd say send a written letter to her first, just so you dont feel awkward. just say you want to get to know her and have been wanting to meet her, basic stuff about yourself and your life so far...just say what you really feel. add your telephone number. i bet she would love a note anyways, just to keep it would be special .....i bet she will definitely give you a call good luck to you

Tinkerbell
She's probably just as nervous as you! Its not easy to give up a baby for adoption and she did it so you would have a good life. I'm sure things wont be awkward - your mom loved you enough to have you adopted. Call her and introduce yourself to her, ask how she is, where she is, could you have photos of her etc. Get to know her. Good luck to you both!

start with a letter. Does she know you'll be contacting her or is it coming out of the blue?

I would definitely start with a letter with info and pics about yourself/family as well as contact information. Give her a little bit to internalize everything and call/contact you.

I am happy for you and this is going to be a big step. Just start out by saying hello and tell her who you are. Take it slow because I am sure that she won't know quite what to say either.

Good luck

Love!
Just say, hello, my name is so and so, I am the woman who has adopted your child and I want to thank you for the blessing, maybe invite her out to lunch to chat? Maybe take some pictures or something, but don't make her see them if she doesn't want to, just offer, ya know?
