Please look into adoption from foster care in your own country first.
Those are the children that need your help.
Thousands are already available for adoption.
Taking a child out of their country - and away from their heritage, culture and language - is something that needs to be an absolute resort for any child.
Google blogs written by adult adoptees from Korea or Vietnam.
Overseas adoptees have many more losses to deal with when you uproot them into another country.
Adoptees also don't want to be a 'hand-picked' item. (ie - you stated that you want an 'african boy' to adopt)
Adoption is extremely complex = especially for the child that has lost family - or has been separated from them because of various reasons.
It's not just about 'making a difference in someone's life' - it's a lot to take on - and your family needs to fully understand the complexities involved.
Adoption should be about the absolute best options for children.
Contact your state government department about looking into adoption from foster care where you live. |

I make a difference to a couple of children's life in South East Asia. By sponsoring them it cost me £15 (US25) each child each month and the good thing is they get to stay with their families go to school and make a real difference to the communities - we write to them and encourage our children to also write to them. We plan on visiting them both in a the next year or so and seeing if their is anything we can do to help their village.
It is great - I am sure the US do the same.

"You want to make a difference in someone's life?"
There are over 150,000 children in the US who need adoption.
Foster care has lots of kids that NEED someone to make a difference....and many are black or white or gray or red. All colors!
All ages!
Why goto Africa? |

You have to go through an accredited adoption agency. You will find many on line. The administrative costs are very expensive, so be prepared. International adoption is like nothing else as far as rules and regulations, but they are all necessary.
Have you thought about supporting children within their country of origin rather than bringing them away from their homeland?
When you are looking for an agency, and it's usually one within your state, though not always, make sure they deal in African adoptions. There are many different rules for those children, because African Americans want them adopted by blacks, but there are already hundreds and thousands of black children already available for adoption within in the US.
Catholic Charities is an adoption agency that comes to mind. You don't have to be Catholic though.
We sponsor children from several countries. We help feed and clothe them and pay for their educations, but they stay at home near their families. That makes a difference not only in one life, but a whole community. |

International adoption from some African countries is possible. It is a very long, involved process and isn't something to be undertaken lightly. People do not just show up and pick out a child, then leave.
If you're wanting to make a difference in someone's life, there are other ways to do this besides adoption. |

Be very careful about posting a question like this, and answering e-mails.
I've had several scammers that I've seen and talked to who always say they're not like the others. The "Cameroon Crowd" seem to be able to prey upon victims, usually asking for amounts less than $500.00, stating they've got a friend visiting the US, who will bring the child. The emotional toll that some of these people bring is horrid. Their stories are very detail oriented. There's often a scenario about an accident, which will delay adoption.
Hatian adoptions are the only 3rd world country in the Western Hemisphere of the world, and many adoptees there are ready for immigration, and the process seems to be a little less. There's also not as many scammers. Do go through an adoption agency, and many churches can guide you through some. In Africa, there are actually ORPHANS that need to be adopted, where the parents have died, not just kids who've been left. Educate yoursef on the issues of IA, their losses, and their culture. Imagine yourself being in their shoes. It's kind of like dropping you off in Mars, and expecting the smiling Martians to take care of you, not speaking your language, and you're not even sure if they're being friendly or not.

I don't really know.
I would be careful if you go to Africa, there is dangerous wars that could get you killed.
I suggest that the charities would be a good place to get advice, but the correct charities (ones that deal with poverty).
It doesn't have to be Africa, it could be anyone who needs help.

I believe you don't have to go to Africa. The people of the orphanage will send the child on a plane with a adult or drive by car and come to you. Then they will present the child to you. Try going on google to see sites about this. I like how people like to make changes in others lives. GOD BLESS |
