My mother surrendered me over forty years ago. She would tell you at 67 that life never "got back to normal".

There are some things that humans do not recover from. Giving a child up for adoption is one of them.

It's an emotional amputation and should be avoided at all costs.

Recovery is different for everyone......who knows what could go on during labor. A friend of mine had both of her hips broken during labor and it took her a little over a year to get back to normal......another friends uterus ruptured.

Best not to even address adoption until after she gives birth and has fully recovered.

Once the baby is in the hands of the Paps they could make it difficult for you to get the child back......more unnecessary stress.

It really depends on the woman and her situation on how long it will take her to recover from childbirth. Even after giving birth there are a lot of hormones racing in the mother's body. It is wrong to ask a mother to make such a huge decision while she may not be ready to do so.

The waiting period varies from state to state.

question 1: it varies. adopting a child involves the law. the law in each state is different. Also, lawyers will most likely be involved to come up with an agreement for both parties. I know that when i was adopted my birth mother could regain rights of me for up to 30 days. She could also see me once a month for 1 year then after the year it was a closed adoption and she wasnt able to see me again. That was all in the agreement with the lawyers though. ( if you dont have a laywer, its ok it can be done through the agency. remember they are in your favor they want your baby)

question 2: the mother most likely will not have to breast feed, most women dont do that anyway. The doctor says 6 weeks but everyone is different. when i had my baby i was 18 and back in school 3 weeks later so it depends on your body.

question 3: dont lift anything heavier than what the baby weighs dont drive for a week or so. and just take it easy. child birth is extreame she will know when she is ready i give it about 3-6 weeks

The following is the law of consent revocation in Georgia:

Revocation of Consent
Citation: Ann. Code § 19-8-9(b)
A person signing a surrender shall have the right to withdraw the surrender by written notice delivered in person or mailed by registered mail or statutory overnight delivery within 10 days after signing. After 10 days, a surrender may not be withdrawn.

I'm an adoptive mom and I've never given birth so I can't speak from personal experience. Still, I found this page very informative about healing after childbirth: http://www.pampers.com/en_US/parenting-articles/healing-after-birth/1683
