Well, you had no idea there WAS a registry. You had no idea there was an adoption. Get an attorney, and let him or her worry about the legalities. Good lawyers KNOW these "registries" are a joke, and they also know how underhanded most adoption agencies are. They just want the money, and they get no money if the adoption does not go through. Keep us posted, Kyle, and go get your son.

You do have 30 days and after that you have no chance in getting your child back. You can fight and might have a chance but I doubt it. Look under most of the father's fighting for their children after not filing they don't stand a chance. Look under Mark Huddleston case in New Mexico he fought all the way to the supreme court and lost his child was then adopted. The natural mother will take the stand and say you knew about the baby and did nothing. In my son's case he had a tape of them saying that my son was not the father and they wouldn't tell him where his child was. When he found out who had his child he started sending support found out latter if he had not done that he would have lost his son for non support.
If you really want to fight this get a lawyer and go after the adoption agency. See if the birth mother told the adoption agency you were the father. I'm telling you that there is a lot of lawyers that will not take your case with out a lot of money. If they fill like you have a good case tell them to ask for there fee's make the adoption agency pay for your attorney like they did in my son's case. The adoption agency had to pay 75 thousand the jury order them to pay 100 but that's not what the lawyers asked for.
It's a long fight and you have to walk a fine line.Like I said go a head and file with the registry now. But please don't get your hopes up. Good luck

Unless you find a sympathetic judge and even then itâ€™s their job to up hold the law and rules regardless of how they feel about them. From the PFR in Ohio the ignorance of the father not knowing of the pregnancy or even about PFR the courts will not see that as an excuse. Randy is right a lawyer can verify if this is indeed the time limit and if there is anything you can try and do. Though even if it was a bit beyond 30 days you said in a previous post that the baby would now be 5 or 6 months old either way your time will most likely have expired since I donâ€™t think any state that has father registry allows months after the baby is born for the father to sign up.

I wish you the best but please donâ€™t get your hopes up because the reality is you probably donâ€™t even have a 1% chance of revoking your childâ€™s adoption. Itâ€™s not fair but until the laws/regulation regarding the putative father resister gets changed thereâ€™s not much anyone can do about it.

Dr. Phil featured an episode on this a while back in the case the father also did not know about the registry but they [courts] said ignorance was no excuse.
