thanks for the replies to my question i no its hard to think of all the info and i no the questions that will be raised as the child grows older, im fully prepared to keep the ethical backgroung alive and keep the child aware of were he or she was from, it will be hard answereing them questions that he or she will have but i think its part of being a good parent in answering them honestley, the fees for adoption are emense is there any financial help like grants to help me with this problem

Have you considered sponsoring families so the children can be spared the trauma of being raised by strangers after being separated from their mothers.

Non profit?

Riiiight. Never heard of such a thing. One person in the adoption process HAS to gain some sort of profit to make the "transaction" work and finalize the adoption. Without profit, there would be no adoption.

Be careful - know what you're going to and question the ethics of how you're going to adopt. Places like Guatemala have been shut down in the process due to child trafficking, and China's rural regions aren't that far away in terms of ethics where Guatemala once was. In other words: it is highly possible children are being trafficked and stolen for the sole purpose of being exported off to foreigners coming abroad. And you won't know this - the agencies will NOT tell you or warn you about this. It is illegal.

I understand that you were enquiring about the costs, but even though you're just starting to consider the process, it is highly important to consider how your would-be child will feel and the emotional issues of adoption itself.

Look around at adoptee and first mother blogs and see what they have to say. It's not a pretty sight, and it's because of adoption.

http://sisterheping.wordpress.com/ - Chinese adoptee
http://antiadoption.wordpress.com/ - Korean adoptee
http://adoptionsurvivor.wordpress.com/ - Korean adoptee
http://harlowmonkey.typepad.com/ - Korean adoptee and adoption advocate - VERY GOOD SITE
http://writingmywrongs.typepad.com/ - mother who relinquished
http://cheerios-world.blogspot.com - mother who relinquished

Are you prepared to keep the links of origin alive?
Are you prepared to deal with the question "Why didn't my mother keep me"... and that the answer "because she loved you" will not "solve it" in one day?
Are you prepared to attend language classes and making an effort to cook the food?
Are you prepared to deal with the statement "I miss my mother"?

Are you really, truly prepared to raise a transracial adoptee and all the different issues that come with it surrounding your child?

Because it is more than just raising a child "of your own" - you will STILL be raising an "adopted child."

I adopted internationally (China) and there is no way around it. Unless you are living in that country for a significant period of time, you are going to be paying hefty fees. If you cannot afford it, then you cannot adopt internationally.

Foster Care, it is cheap and sometimes free, and there are kids aging out everyday, give them a chance.

If you cannot afford the fees, perhaps you should not be adopting.

you know... i want a new 7-series BMW, but...i can't afford it either..

try serving as a missionary or sponsoring a kid over seas. they might like that more than being ripped from their homeland so that someone with modest means can get their "love jones" on...

I have adopted from China, and there are agencies who offer alot of financial assistance if you are willing to adopt a child with a correctable medical condition or a child who is a bit older (like over 3 years old). I will list the agency below that we are using, and they offer alot of financial assistance. I understand being worried about paying for an international adoption, I was scared also! We did alot of fundraising and we received alot of help from our agency. So keep checking out your options and good luck to you!
