or would people keep having them not wanting them??
I am moving to mexico & i was talking to my husband about how many kids we want & i want alot(4-5) but i was like i really dont want to bring more into the world if there are some suffering...he said lets adopt from the "home" where he lives, I was like do u think we would be able to..& he was like they just give them away.. i looked into it & it is true they are in such need of families because they have so many they cant afford them.. would u adopt more children if they where practicly given to u?? Additional Details lisa i didnt mean it offensive i know some ppl give them because of poverty.. but i was refering to the ones that give them b/c they just plain out dont want them

I think a lot of people misunderstood you. I believe that if there was more of an effort for children to be adopted into stable homes there would not be as many children in need. There will always be cases where the mother wants to or is forced to give her child up for adoption for the sake of the baby so I do not think making it cheaper will eliminate but I do think it would help. I think that it should be easier for middle class families to adopt.
My aunt works middle class and has been saving up awhile just to adopt. Imagine how many kids she would have if it were not so expensive. She wants a huge family but she can not have biological children. She is also looking into foster care. |

IDK!!

If taking care of kids was cheaper there might be less orphans. |

My first adoption was international and was $800 (we were living overseas at the time so an "international adoption" in our case was a bit different). My second was domestic and was free through foster care.
If the costs were less I don't really think it would make much of an impact though. Considering that in most areas they are already free through foster care and people still chose other methods to adopt that cost money I think an attitude shift is in order more then a cost cut. Although the cost controls would certainly not hurt. |

"would people keep having them not wanting them?? "
This statement is offensive and ignorant. Poverty doesn't mean that children are not wanted. |

An orphan is a child who's parents have died.
Adoption doesn't take away the fact that the child's parents died, they're still dead. Adoption doesn't make "less" orphans in the world, it just gives a few orphans replacement parents to raise them.
Adoption from the foster care is free, but most of those children have parents living now don't they.
Just because a child is in an orphanage, doesn't mean the child is an orphan.
So no, if adoption was "cheaper" and I assume you mean international adoption, there wouldn't be less orphans.
And no i wouldn't adopt a child becuase they were just given to me. If the home needs money, and I had it to help, i'd help them with care for the children, but I wouldn't just "take them" for the hell of it. |

This question seems to highly offended me seeing as I have passed through an orphanage and a foster home where they are pretty crappy. Half way around the world. |

the literal definition of orphan is someone whose parents one or both have died but in states terms an orphan is anybody who is legally or otherwise taken away from their parents-either by death or legal means for abuse and such-or abandonment-i think it has nothing to do with the orphans and price of adoption not all orphans are adoptable!!!! they must be labeled adoptable by an agency and such and often older children it can take a while to be adoptable-meanwhile ur stuck an orphan-for instance if baby a is taken into foster care doesnt mean the kid can be adopted immediately the mother or other family may work the system or the kid may have problems th angency i worried about(which happens alot)and it may take many years they dont always immediately terminate guardianship-what raises the price of adoptions is the fact that so many people only want young children or infants for their family fact is there are more older children in foster care and adoptable then one may realize-price has nothing to do with it-now making more incentives for people to adopt older children would mean less orphans- |

Have you even bothered to research the laws on adoption in Mexico? That might be something you could do for starters. I just read (googled) that in 2008, 105 children were adopted from the country of Mexico by US citizens... Doesn't sound like a big 'give-away' to me! |
