If adoption agencies restrict single people from adopting kids, they why the Duggars allowed to have 18 kids?

Additional Details I'm saying single people who can't find a spouse should have the right to have kids if they're loving and can afford it.

Your question and argument needs to be re-framed, but I agree that any family, bio or adopted, can't possibly do a quality job with that many children. It's not even safe.
If you're just comparing quality of care by ratio, 1:1 certainly is far better than 2:9.
But traditional families are "allowed" to do pretty much whatever they want to, even though you and I might think 19 children is a crime against those children and a crime against the planet.
But adoption agencies aren't known for always being sensible. And host countries can insist on traditional families if they want to. You'll just have to deal with those that do not discriminate against being single.
Why don't you try being a foster parent? I don't believe they discriminate and you would be helping children who really need love |

Allowed to have 18 kids. Last time I checked I didn't have to ask anyone's permission to become pregnant. I guess I don't understand what you are asking. |

Your question makes no sense.
1. The Duggars are married.
2. They have not adopted any children.
So there is no connection there. |

Because adopting and giving birth are two different things.
Really, what are a couple having a bazillion kids the old-fashioned way and a single person wanting to adopt supposed to have in common?
There is no "right" to a child. None. |

The Duggers had their children the old fashioned way. They did not need permission from anyone.
Not all adoption agencies allow only married people to adopt. |

Because adoption agencies (and clearly, Michelle Duggar, for that matter) do not control her uterus. They are not adopted.

you added :I'm saying single people who can't find a spouse should have the right to have kids if they're loving and can afford it.
"HAVING KIDS" is different than ADOPTING kids. There are many single people who have children. There are many many many children available in foster care, and some places do not require marriage.
Also, affording a child has NOTHING to do with the the act of loving a child. |

Adoption and pregnancy are two completely different things. NO ONE has "the right" to someone else's child. And by the way, single people CAN adopt. They just might have to take a kid who actually needs a home instead of a womb-fresh infant. |

because until Michelle Duggar goes thru menopause, she could have as many kids as she want. Its her body and if she wants to be a baby machine then so be it. |

Because the Duggars only have biological children, and as long as you support and take care of them, there is no law or regulation in the United States that says how many children you may have.
The Duggars would almost certainly not be able to adopt, but if they want to birth their own children, no one really has any say in it but them.
By the way, not all agencies (and not all states) prevent single people from adopting. They set their own rules, not the government, so they won't all have that as a policy. |

Because people have the right to have children. They don't have the right to have other people's children. It's that simple. |

You are comparing apples to oranges here. Last I heard about their show, and I admit I don't watch such shows, they were married and therefore free to do what they wanted with their bodies and their family size. Its got nothing to do with adoption.
On the other hand, in many areas (and I'd hazard a guess and say most areas) in the US and Canada, single people can adopt. Yes, I know there are select areas that are still in the dark ages or are going back to the dark ages where they cannot but in most areas they can.
One must remember, when it comes to adoption it is the State (as in Government of any level) that has the responsibility for the placement of the child and they are the ones that set the regulations (good or bad). In the case of the Duggars and any one else like them, they are the ones responsible to set their limits and decide when enough is enough. |

Singles can adopt from agencies. It really depends on those agencies criteria. I have also heard of people having a boat load of adopted children often when one adopts from FCS as long as they can provide emotional and financially for the child(ren) they can adopt. |

Well as far as I know not a single one of their kids are adopted so your question is pretty irrelevant. Now as far as kids raising kids it doesn't seem like the older siblings have and issues with helping raise the younger children and in most families you are expected to help take care of your younger siblings. Adoption agencies look at several factors and will grant approval for adoption if you pass the standards single or not. (I have known a couple single parents to be able to adopt children, not that it's likely but it can happen) However whether you think its right or not the Duggars are not in ANY debt which tells me that having an over abundance of children has not impacted them in a negative way and they seem to be able to raise happy, healthy, well-behaved, respectful children. And since most families that only have one kid can't raise a respectful child I give the Duggars props. |

The Duggar family did not adopt their children, so if we're going to start banning certain families from having more children, they would not be on the top of the list when there are many parents who abuse and neglect the children they already have.
Single people are allowed to adopt, however, private adoption agencies and forgein countries have the right to make their own restrictions about who they will accept. If a single person wants to adopt then they can find one of the many agencies that would be happy to work with them. |

I only have 2 kids and I still can't run house as smooth as they do, even IF they had adopted, I'd say they're doing a pretty good job. THAT'S what matters, not number parents, children, dollars or rooms.
What matters is, is this the best possible home we can find for THIS child? |

Newsflash:
Adoption isn't about YOU!
Ask yourself this: is there a kid who would prefer to have one adoptive parent to two?
Adopted kids have lost ENOUGH.
You want to adopt a kid to plunk them in daycare 10-12 hours, and camp all summer? Adoption is about more than your ego.
Look into why you are unable to establish and keep an intimate relationship with another adult. |

what a world we live in! i agree, im sick of everyone overpopulating this world when they are thousands of children who don't have a loving home to go to! and who says you cant be loving just because you are single. i went through this myself, i want to adopt but i cant because im not married and i dont want to get married. we should have restrictions on how many kids families can have like they do in china! |
