My son stumbled across info on the Adoptee Rights Demonstration in Philly next year and this is what he decided he wants for Christmas...A family trip to Philadelphia. (How awesome is this kid??)
Hubby and I discussed it and are seriously thinking about going. We have never been to anything like this so what should we know before we make the trip?

Plan on staying for a few days if you can manage it. Philly is such a fun city and there's so much to see and do. I've been keeping track of fun Philly stuff to do when people come for the demonstration, so you can pick out places you'd like to visit while you're there:

You'll meet the most awesome bunch of people ever!
A discounted rate is usually negotiated at a hotel and there's a sign making party the day before.
In New Orleans we had a booth inside the Convention Center during the following few days after the protest , which meant we could speak face-to-face with legislators, their aides and other civil rights organizations who were also exhibiting.
I would highly recommend anyone who believes in ending discrimination against adopted people to attend.
Just bring yourselves and you'll have a blast, whilst getting the word out that discrimination in this day and age will not be tolerated!

This should be a nationwide event. I will be googling this and making arrangements to attend. I think this is awesome.
A good idea would be to pre-arrange hotel stays (they will probably be pretty booked and the prices will end up sky high the closer the date of the event approaches). Maybe find the web site for the event and see if they will be needind any support or donations. |
