I am in NROTC and my friend got his GF prego.....Now he wil get kicked out if he has a dependent.... If giving the baby up for adoption negates dependency I would like to know to tell him.....

Yes, adoption "negates dependency.
I have to ask though, is your friend really willing to give up his CHILD for NROTC?!
If so, I would be concerned about him. Can you trust someone who would give up his child for his own advancement to have your back in combat?!
There are other ways to serve in the military WITHOUT sacrificing your family. |

Relinquishing the baby for adoption will release the dependency. He is terminating his parental rights and will not have any dependents. If the girlfriend is making an adoption plan now, the birth certificate will be made to reflect the names of the adoptive parents and you may not have to ever be on the record. |

Yes, adoption will result in him having NO dependents.
BUT... be sure they learn about the choices they have. They can still have contact and choose the family. |
